Picky or not?

Are you a picky cel collector? Rate from 1 being the least picky and 5 being the most picky.

Im pretty picky but not toooo picky when i get cels so i would say im a 4.

I just collect only Kenshin Seisouhen..... (and eps. Kenshin and Kaoru theme....).

I might collect Sano and Saito cels, as well as Kenshin from TV but I do really think I am very picky

I'm medium. I have a lot of cels other people would pass up, probably C grade cels... which I got for various and sundry reasons.

I love em anyway.

which probably accounts to why I dont have very many
cels based on how long I've been into this hobby.

Most likely because I have very specific cels/sketches in my mind
and on my wishlist that I want...
for ex.. specific scene, character, or shot.

8 out of 10 times when I do find somethin I want its really
expensive for me so it helps to be picky so in the end
you enjoy every single piece you have. ^_^

I'd rather have 1 excellent quality cel/sketch than 100 crummy or mediocre ones.

I chose three, because it depends on the item (or character) in question. There are some characters/scenes that I can afford to be picky about, while other characters I grab whatever I can get. It's just a difference in the prices of the different series as to whether or not I'm picky about what I add to my collection

I'd say I'm pretty picky because... I don't have much cash to spend on collecting any more. So I have to pass up some decent cels for the ones that I *really* like. It's really better in the long run, though, I think.

I'm not too picky, because I tend to buy things on a whim. Yes I have a wishlist, but even that isn't particularly picky for most of the items on it. I kind of look around, say, "Hey, that's cute!" and then buy. Which probably isn't a good thing . . .

I picked 5. I'm so picky that I have it down to the character and scene I want. I only got 1 cel this year because of this. Maybe I've become a crusty old cel collector after all of these years.

1. Picky about the scene?

I'm not looking for many scenes in particular anymore since there's not much out there to choose from. I'm just happy if it looks good.

2. Picky about the price?

Not particularly since most of the stuff I collect isn't that expensive. So it either comes to me liking it or not. A 95 percent discount off the price won't change how I feel about it. I still won't like it or want it.

3. Picky about the character?

Hmm...I'm fairly satisfied with what I have, but I'm still looking to get a few characters in particular like Ayaka and Lemmy from To Heart, Akiha from Tsukihime, Riku and Risa from DNAngel, Sayuri, Mai and Nayuki from Kanon, Haruka and Akane from KimiNozo, Itsuki in Suika, Maki from Kakyuusei, Misaki from ONE second OVA, and Manami, Wakana and Honoka from Sentimental Journey. But they will all be hard to get on quality media so...

4. Picky about the show?

I look for artwork from forty-five anime, but two-thirds of them I've never seen anything from them and have little hope for so...

The average out of the five categories comes out to "2.6". I'll vote "3" since that's the closest to "2.6".

I didnt think about that.. your right. It would depend on what aspect
of picky when finding a cel a collector would consider.

I'm extremely picky about my cels, which explains my meager gallery. I would rather have 10 great cels than 100 good ones. My wishlist says it all: only two specific cels, and the rest are high end Gundam cels. It's cool, though/ Bein picky has saved me money in the long run.

I picked 4. I'm really picky about escaflowne cels, but after you get a big collection of any one series going it starts go get slow actually finding stuff you like. After about a year of this being frustrated about lack of things to buy I decided to start collecting from other series just for fun. I guess when you really get into one series you start to get serious about it and you lose some of that "Oh thats cool what the heck I'll buy it" gratification. So I'm a 5 with esca, and probably a 3 with everything else.



Does anyone else find that when you get to into one series really heavily it gets to be a bit intense? Like everytime I miss an esca dream cel it feels like the end of the world. I'm kind of falling in love with the hobby again by just having fun grabbing stuff from other series that I don't put pressure on myself to amass a great collection of. It kind of like, "hey cool I just got something neat for cheap" and if I lose an auction its no big deal. Its fun and liberating to not care quite as much! sorry for the off topic babbling!
