I think comments make the gallery more interesting. It shows how proud a person is of what they have. Sometimes when I do a huge update, I don't have much time putting a lot of comments on each one. But, I try . . .

It is sometimes nice for that person to go back and read their own comments because it reminds them of how happy they were when they got it. To be honest, I have sometimes contemplated on selling an item, but changed my mind after reading my own comments. :)

Count me in with the comment readers. Nine times out of ten, if I'm having a leisurely browse through galleries, I will click on all the thumbnails and read all the comments. I also feel a little sting of disappointment when commentary is lacking, even though I can understand not everyone wants to take the time to write something down.

I especially love to read comments on cels from shows with which I'm not familiar. Often, by the end, I feel I've learned something new, and, maybe, even found another show to add to my ever growing "must watch this" list.

I'm guilty of sometimes (almost always? :? ) writing very long commentary, which, I'm sure, most people find either ridiculous or boring (or both! X| ). But, I really like adding comments to my cels ... and, I figure, if folks think I've been too long-winded, they can always skip the blah, blah, blah and just look at the pictures. :D

If I click on a cel, I love to read comments. About the scene, why the person loves the cel and so on. ^_^

I try to write comments down on all my cels, but I lack the skills to make some indepth or meaningfull or... whatever word i'm trying to think of here. :P

For me it all depends on hot witty the author is.

"Guy running" isn't exactly quality entertainment, and not very informative since I can see that it's a cel of a guy running.

It depends on the item in question :D Sometimes I'm the thumbnail person just perusing what's up, but when I find something that interests me I like to be able to read about it. :run

Most of the time I'm only looking up and clicking uncommon cels/sketches links anyway so having the commentary about the artwork really helps me and is appreciated. While looking at "more popular" anime series, I find commentary text more clickworthy to me when it distinguishes itself by being witty and funny (like Kymaera's) or when the text is paired with a particularly striking cel.

I get sad when someone collects a few things I do, but they don't have any comments for their cels anywhere on their entire website.

That's just...sad. :(

Hey...you two Rubberslug guys! I'm talking to you there! **points his finger** You deserve a whack on the head. :wack

Well Uende, I'm impressed that someone even bothered to read my post at all :P j/k It's nice to feel appreciated- I try. *whee*

Comments alongside cels are crucial; I've been learning that the more galleries I visit and it can elevate and good cel and make a bad cel appear special.

With comments, I can get a lot of info about the artwork and owner. Talking about technical aesthetics and production process combined with personal anecdotes on the acquisition and what it MEANS to the owner is the winning formula.

Uende, Tex and Sensei (among others here) do that particularly well and it's always a joy to visit such galleries.

When I'm reading I try to learn more about the series (if I don't know it) or see things from a different/similar perspective (if I know the series well), it's always good fun and a great social interaction. These comments can usually be good conversation points and you can get chatting to a lot of other collectors this way.
Mind you, I know many of you have a backlog of emails and PMs to get through so that's maybe not a good thing! heh

I like reading comments. Its always fun to read comments to see what other people think and sometimes lie about lol :P I mean if i post one of my artwork, i would leave hearing comments and im sure everyone is like that too. Comments just give you the energy to do more. :)

:stupid: heh, no offence Harry but we were referring to the text alongside individual cels in our galleries not the feedback messages from visitors :^^:
Although we all agree that it's nice to hear from visitors!

^Must be one of those that just skims the thumbnails! :P

I love the comments, and feel neglected if there aren't any. :(

I try to keep mine short, but there are those that I must admit I just couldn't shut up about. X| But like tex says, you can just skip the blah blah blah stuff if you want. :D

I'm guilty of the "big bulk updates not enought time to write them" thing but I have to admit I love comments too. you really get to share in the passion of the hobby hearing people get excited about their collection. Sometimes I feel like people who leave everything blank don't care as much - i know thats probably not the case but comments really show how much you love what you've got. - I'm such a hypocrit! X|

I feel like such a slacker. Even though I enjoy reading others comments, I'm lacking on most of my cels. I'll try to remember to add comments from now on, and just might go back and add to the others. :P

:bow2: I enjoy reading the comments people write.
When we had the Rs open-house it took me a long time getting through galleries. So may of you are great writers!:bow2: :)

I, on the other hand, have a hard time explaining why I have each cel. I'm not very good at coming up with 300 different ways to say "I love this cel because..."
If I can, I will at least write where the cel came from (episode #) what I got with the cel and who I got it from, you know the basics. On a rare occasion I'll write more.
