Sheesh . . . There's no way it'd get up to 16K even if he set the bid at a lower price. How much do you think he spent for it originally? $6? Maybe $10?
From a collectable point of view, the fact that it's the incorrect character MIB (albeit the wrong one), makes it worth slightly more than if it were the correct character in the box. $16k worth? I doubt it. Such a mistake might raise the price to something like $100-$150, but probably no higher.
I don't collect anime figures, but from visiting antique malls and attending auctions (both online and in person), I can say that most "mistake" toys aren't worth that much.
If it were something like an incorrectly minted US coin, $16k might be reasonable. Heck, that would be cheap for some coins (like the Sacagawea dollar with George Washington on it --- instead of Sacagawea). Those are worth about $28k...
