I said I wasn't going to post again, but I will.

Not because I want to say anything more about the relief -- now that things are moving, I don't feel like I'm going to explode from frustration anymore. I'm horribly, horribly sad, and very concerned about what this is going to do to our country on a much larger scale, but that's a story for another day.

What I wanted to say to the rest of you, to make sure you understand where I was coming from on this, is that my original postings once again had nothing to with the *politics* of the situation, only the ineptitude of it.

I would have been saying exactly the same sharp and angry things if it had been a Democrat, an Independent, a Green Party member or the good lord himself in charge of things. Particularly in the case of that radio interview I pointed you all to. (There's someone who needs to lose a job real fast).

My anger over the situation had absolutely nothing to do with ANYONE's politics and everything to do with people dying in the sun in a dry spot in New Orleans, when the very organization whose entire existence is to be prepared for such eventualities was denying that the people were there. Thank god we got the military down there; they at least know how to give orders and get things done.

I hope I never live to see another day as bad as that one was.

Since I work the graveyard shift I haven't been able to watch the news this week regarding Katrina and the disaster down south. I've only heard stories from others. I can't believe how terrible the situation is. It's sad that ppl on both sides are shouting that each other is to blame.

I heard some good news last night. NYC is sending a bus convoy along with police and other help down to Louisiana to get those ppl out of there. Some of our NJ police will be following.

I really wish I could volunteer to help with anything. The only thing I've done at the moment was make a money donation to the ASPCA to help with the search and rescue of pets and other animals that were abandoned or lost in the Katrina disaster. I understand everyone is helping the ppl down there but we gotta think of our animal friends too.
