Does anyone recognize this anime? I think it's from 1989. The VHS tape box art looks kind of interesting. I thought maybe one of our Older Anime Experts on Beta might be familiar with it.
That auction is for the Utsunomiko movie. The artist is Mutsumi Inomata. She's also done design work for Windaria, Leda, Weathering Continent and Cyber Formula to name a few.
Once upon a time (the late '80's to the early '90's say) they used to do long OVA series. Now they strech them out and put them on TV.
13 OVA episodes eh? It's got to be one of the longest OVA series around.
Not even close. I think Legend of the Galactic Heroes holds that title by a long shot with 110 episodes in the main series and the 52-episode Gaiden series.
Hector the Collector loved these things with all his soul,
Loved them more than shining diamonds, loved them more than glistenin' gold.
Hector called to all the people,"Come and share my treasure trunk!"
And all the silly sightless people came and looked...and called it junk.

I keep forgetting that Legend of Galactic Heroes was an OVA. I recall hearing that sometime back (I think I heard it from here), but I forgot about it.
"Legends of Galactic Heroes" must have had a number of fervent fans for them to keep buying the OVAs for such a long period of time hmm?
