I think a lot of mothers are like that.
The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

My little brother gets away with anything and everything, he has told me a lot of the stuff he does and it depresses me. because I never did anywhere near what he does and my mom just lives in her self denial bubble. Sure I clue her in on some things as a courtesy from a parent to a parent but at this point it's obvious she's either ill equipped or just doesn't care to pull back on the reigns.
