Newbie wanting to say "hi"!

Post by DevoVamp »

Hi there! I'm DevoVamp, and I'm totally new to anime-beta, and to cel collecting as well. (Thanks, Klet, for suggesting I post a message here! Didn't know this forum thread was here!)

So, let's see, I'm 34, swf (I'm not single, I'm romanticly chchallanged) and I'm just finishing off a Ph.D. in literature with the University of Bristol, although I did a thesis only since I'm living in Canada. (Heck of a commute, that!) I wrote it on Anne Rice's work, and the effect that the loss of her Catholic faith had (and still has) on her work. The thesis is at the binder, and once it's sent in I have to defend it, but if I pass that then I've got my degree. Six years of work, and I think I'm too stunned to enjoy it! LOL 8O :D (And, degree or not, I'm still a really crappy speller, for some reason! May the angels bless whoever came up with "spell check"!)

I've applied with GEOS to go to Japan to teach English for a year, but I haven't heard anything from them yet. Hey, they ask for one university degree, and I've got two and will hopefully have a third by December, so what the heck do they want from me????? LOL!!! Sorry, but the fact that I've not even been called in for an interview is really freaking me out! After that, I want to move to England permanently. That's "home" to me, and was from the first minute of the first time I stepped off the plane.

I have two Cairn terriers, Siska (wheaten coloured) and Chilli (red brindle, although he has a really black face and head that almost looks like he was painted!).

I've just gotten into cels, and I now have bought two, although I haven't received them yet. One is from Nightwalker and the other is a cel of Condor Joe from Gatchaman, most of which I can't afford at the minute, but I managed to get this one:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... RK:MEWA:IT

Sorry if I didn't do that link thing right. /sry I think I want to find a background for it, when it gets here. I'm really happy with that one, for sure!! :jump

Actually, Gatchaman is a bit of an obession with me. I've even been writing 2 fan fics, which are up on the gatchfic website, under my real name, Tammy Dasti. They're not finished yet, but I'm still working on them.

Hmm, I think that's about it. So, hello everybody, and I'm totally happy to be here! :woot:

Welcome to Beta DevoVamp!

I am in the process of finishing my Masters thesis at the moment so I know all about the stress they build. Good luck on your defense!

As far as cel collecting the only thing I can say is enjoy your money while you can. :P The more you get the more you crave (not that its a bad thing). To me, its the best type of art to collect!

Welcome to beta! Hope you enjoy your time around here. I can't say that I know anything about Gatchaman, but I really like that cel.

Oh, and just ignore Cloud :)

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

Wow, that is one impressive "Hi there" post. @.@

I think probably one of the best I've read in a long time... >.<

Er, welcome to the Funny Farm, please leave all sharp objects at the door with the funny looking Hamster. Don't mind him, he's just jealous of the chickens...

Remember to keep all arms and legs in the vehicle until the Captain has turned off the no smoking sign.

Geez, I'm here five minutes and I've done something wrong??? I signed up and logged in, Cloud.

UNLESS you're the same Cloud that's on the bords.jp BOTP list, in which case you're teasing me! LOL!!

Thanks for the welcome, everybody!! Well, maybe if I get that job in Japan I'll have a bit more money to fling around! LOL!

Ooops, after 4:30, I must get ready for my Krav maga class. I forgot to mention that, I think. It's a self-defense training system that uses your own instincts to kick major butt! I'm now able to beat up the guys in my class, all of whom are a lot bigger and stronger than I am! LOVE IT!!
