Boy that was the worst quality Saiyaman raw that I've ever seen. I mean I don't expect quality from them...just a temporary fix. But their raw pixelated about two thirds the legnth of the entire show. It was very distracting. X|

Unless someone spent time piecing it together, it looks like episode 52 was one big one hour long episode instead of two separate episodes. It was good, but it had too much plot dialog for me to keep up with what they were saying.

They had a new opening and closing sequence with new songs. The new opening will take me awhile to get used to. It starts out so DARK that it was hard to see with my drapes open. I had to close them. :(

And what do they call the type of rock music where the guy yells? He was yelling there at the end of the song (only at the end). It's the type of yelling I hear in the music they play during the all technique fighting contest show I sometimes see at 12 AM on regular TV. :D

What a bad place to end this episode, but I suppose maybe the ending of episode 53 (airing on October 18th) might be even worse? Haven't read any manga so I wouldn't know.

MINOR SPOILER FOR EPISODE 52:
It was cool to see how that Captain with the basket on his head really looks like. :)

Okay, I've been re-watching Bleach as I dl it for my sister, and the video quality in one particular scene really bugs me. Can someone tell me which fan-group to dl or maybe just give me a screencap of the scene where
Inoue, Ishida, and Chad are guessing what Shiba Kuukaku looks like, and Inoue draws a compiled version of their guesses in the dirt? All I ever see is the dirt--I can never make out the picture, and I really want to know what it looks like. It's in episode 23.
Thanks!!

Screencap for you, klet. :D (I hope it came out OK.)

Thanks for the info, Baylor! :D I also really liked Keep's, but, like you and Marauder, they were just releasing too slow for me. ^^;; I didn't like how they translated "shinigami" as "soul reaper" though. That kinda annoyed me. I wish Lunar wouldn't translate it as "death god" either, but, at this point, I've just gotten used to it. =P Does B-S leave the term untranslated?

So, as I was perusing the 70+ pages of "Bleach" stuff on YJ, I ran across a book with a title that I find appropriate for those of us that are addicted to Bleach:
BLEACHERS! :rollin

Yah, you tell me... Because according to the manga. In the next Episode Ichigo Kills Rukia.

:dbz:

Ooops. Nevermind... I think I was reading the wrong manga.... Ichigo doesn't kill Rukia.
Isn't bleachers something you sit on in a ball game?

OMG.... Go Team Clorox!!! CLo ROcks!

Also, why is this anime called Bleach?
Ahhh... How cute!!! :cat Image

Waaaah!!! *tackle glomp* Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I saved it to my comp. Such a funny scene. :crackup

In one of the monthly issues of Shonen Jump, there was an article about the American and other musical influences involved in Bleach--most of which have been cut out of the anime. Apparently, in the manga, each character has a "theme song," and a lot of them are American rock/punk. Ichigo also has a poster of Al Pachino in his room in the manga, and his hero is some American singer--can't remember who, though. X| Anyway, the editor was specualting that the title "BLEACH" comes from Nirvana's debute album of the same name. 'Course, it could just be speculation. :shrug

Ok, its everyone's who posted on this thread's fault. J/K :P

I finally started watching the Bleach episodes that have been gathering dust on my shelf for the past few months. Is it healthy to watch Bleach in 10 episode sittings? :hurt: Ah well, nevermind. I'll lurk back into the shadows.

Not only is it healthy, but I'm sure that many people on this board would argue that it is unhealthy to do otherwise.

I believe they leave it as "Shinigami", but I can't be positive. They haven't said "Shinigami" much lately.

Does anyone know where a character said "Shinigami" in episodes 41-51? The problem is I just burned up to episode 50 onto DVD-R so I would have to pull out my folder to check. :(

EDIT:

:jump :jump :jump :jump

Today my friend said that he talked to some people from three different fansub groups such as Froth-Bite and he said that they said that DB had the most accurate translation. He said that Lunar is trying to get another translator so that their Bleach translation doesn't come out so slangy. And he said they were saying that Bleach Society embellishes their translation to make it sound better. That's supposedly why Bleach Society had additional stuff in their translations that DB didn't.

We need someone that knows Japanese to check out Bleach Society's sub to see if they added things that were not even there. I can recall about three or four places in episode 51 where Bleach Society had a plot point in their translation that was missing in DB's.

Someone know who's right here?

Keropi wrote:I was watching episode 51 again and I have to agree with Remi. Dattebayo's translation left out quite a bit of stuff from what they were saying. A lot of meaning was lost (but non-crucial info). When watching Bleach Society's version things make more sense. I noticed other lines were funnier in Bleach Society's version:

EPISODE 51 DIALOG SPOILERS:
In DB's version:

Kenpachi: So you guys want to play too, huh? Looks like I have no choice. I'll take care of the captains, so you take care of the left-overs. If you get in my way, I'll cut them through you!

[after the two leave]

Kenpachi: Well, well. It's finally calmed down a bit.

In Bleach Society's version:

Kenpachi: So you guys want to cut too eh. That's fine. I'll share. But fight somewhere else. If you get in my way, I'll cut you first.

[after the two leave]

Kenpachi: Finally, I can cut in peace.

ROFL :rollin

Here's an example of lost meaning in DB's translation:

DB's version:

Ikaku: Just because I'm not a Vice-Captain, doesn't mean a scaredy-cat Vice-Captain like you should tell me what to do.

Bleach Society's version:

Ikaku: There's no reason for a guy who went to another division because he couldn't be a vice captain in ours to say anything bad about how I talk Iba-san.
Okay, I posted my original comment before Bleach Society's edition came out and the only two available were Dattebayo and Bakakozou. I think a BIG difference is the second thing that Keropi mentioned in his spoiler. It's not hugely important, but it does relay some knowledge of a past relationship and motivation, which is interesting.

Also:
There is also the difference in the scenes with the captain in the glasses is stading behind bucket-head. In Dattebayo's version he said something along the lines of 'the only thing reflected in these glasses are the people who stand in the way of peace' and in Bakakozou's version it was along the lines 'the only thing these blind eyes can see are the people who stand in the way if peace.'

A subtle difference, but um, I think knowing the guy is blind is sort of useful and interesting.

Also, when the buckethead is talking about the main guy who took him in, in DB's version he simply says something about how he had nothing and was on the streets and this guy took him in. In Baka's version he says the guy was the only one who ignored his looks and took him in anyway. Sorry I don't remember the exact working (it was over a week ago), but the first one just implies he was a poor, down-on-his luck guy, while the second actually gives you some logic on why he wears a basket on his head.
I deleted the DB version off my computer as I just didn't like it. I have since DL'd BS's version and will compare it to Baka's to see which I prefer.

Baylor wrote:I'm rather picky about my fansubs. I hate poor video quality, overuse of slang, and overtranslations. I didn't use to be this way... not sure what happened.

But anyway. I used to get Bleach from Anime-Keep, but they were just too slow to satiate my Bleach needs. I have been disappointed with Lunar from the get-go due to overtranslation of terms. Calling the shinigami "Death Gods" irks me. Yes yes, I know that's what they are, but I prefer "shinigami" over the translation. I have been using Bleach-Society as of late, and I really like them. I dl'ed Bakakozou last week because I didn't want to wait for BS' fansub, and I was very impressed with BK's work.

So there's my two cents. And it's probably worth less than that. :P
This relfects my sentiments almost exactly. I'm a huge fan of all of Anime-Keep's work, but they were just too slow. I switched to Lunar but didn't like their translation style AT ALL. I tried Bleach Society and was really pleased and have been with them since.

The only reason I made the original post comparing Dattebayo and Bakakozou was because those were the only two up for download at the time, and neither Lunar or Bleach Society had released the episode yet. So I had to go with something entirely new and so I downloaded both and compared them. Once I saw BS had release a version I DL'd that one, but after seeing what I think was a poor translation job by DB, I wonder how many small things I am missing in Naruto. I always preferred AonE's subs of the show but lately they have fallen too far behind.

As for Bleach, I'll stick with BS since I have liked them for quite a while, but it seems Bakakozou is a very good alternative if they release first.

I know, it took me forever and a day, but I finally dl'ed and have been listening to the Ichigo Beat album.

My first thought (just like Baakay said): Dude! Don't quit your day job! X| *cringe*

But now that I've given it a few spins, it's growing on me... and I kind of like it! :?

Anyone else listened to it? What do you guys think?
Should I bother listening to the others? (Yeah, yeah, I'll have to listen to the Ishida one I'm sure. :P)

Eww, the Ishida Beat album made my ears hurt... :hurt: As far as I'm concerned, the OST is the only thing worth downloading (some great tracks in that one, but where's #2 already!?!).

And jeez MV, how could you possibly stop in the middle of reading the Bleach manga?!? :P

Bleach Society's fansubs are not as good lately. They had that problem with leaving in the notes in episode 50. Now their 52-53 fansub looks rushed out as well. The video was very jittery and had that mispelling in a bad spot:

Tousen: "He's still simling."

I was thinking..."What the heck is he talking about?" :puzzled It took me a couple seconds to realize he meant "Smiling". :?

I think Bleach Society is rushing too much. :(
