Okay, you guys are getting sluggish if I'm the first one to see this!
There are so MANY things that are hilarious about this story: 1) the guy's Japanese name "englished", 2) the journalist's take on what gundam is all about, and finally 3) that this guy, given the high honor of being chosen to travel in space, decides to use the opportunity to COSPLAY!!

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
-I, Robot (Asimov)
I'd like to see some cosplay pictures of THAT. That would be something to see.
Anyone have a picture of how Char looks like? I've had a Char's Counterattack fansub tape sitting on my shelf for about six years, but never got around to watching it.
The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?
You hit the nail on the head shellie - I pictured that helmet going up into space as I was reading that article. hahahaha... while he's up there, he should perhaps do a little gundam reenactment
Best of luck to him! He's fulfilling his dream of seeing the planet earth from on high and even gets to dress up like a big kid. No wonder he's excited
When I read the article I didn't think it was funny, just cool. Rather him than me though, I know I couldn't handle the training as I get sea-sick
I thought that was kind of cool too!
Hey, if you're paying top dollar for an experience, you might as well enjoy it all out!
I was kind of hoping he'd be going SpaceX. It would be the one time where they wouldn't be a pain in my butt.
