What's the best Plastation 1 game? Advice needed for a gift
Okay, I'm trying to figure out what game to get for my sister (we have a Playstation 1). She's turning 15. She doesn't like Sports games, racing games, or fighting games (I think), or scary games like Resident Evil ( I love them though).
Games she has really liked in the past: Dragoon, Final Fantasy 7, Harvest Moon, Spyro, Thousand Arms . . . I don't know what else.
Anyway, any advice greatly apreciated! I'm going to work now but I'll check here when I get back.

Yeah okay, Don't think too hard.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

That depends.. I really hated the card game aspect of FFVIII. It was a huge turn off.. also found the story a little boring.Uende wrote:Tomb Raider (the first one)![]()
I'm like your sister; I love the games she likes too (Final Fantasy VII anyone?)
If she likes FFVII, she'll love FFVIII too...guaranteed
On the other hand FFVII was great.

How about Chrono Cross? The art is gorgeous and its a role playing game.
I agree with Uende about Tomb Raider.

I don't know if she likes music/dance games, but Parappa the Rapper is a lot of fun. It requires a little more coordination than most RPGs with button pushing, but it's easy to pick up and play. Also, almost everyone in my family enjoyed playing Bust a Groove 1 and 2, which is a dance game series a lot like Parappa in terms of gameplay. For fun RPGs, I also love FFVIII and FFIX. I also recommend Lunar: Silver Star Story, Suikoden I and Suikoden II (which I haven't played but have heard great things about. I'd love to play, but it's almost impossible to GET a copy for less than $100
), and of course Wild Arms and Wild Arms: 2nd Ignition. Fun games. Another one of my favorite PS1 RPGs is Xenogears. It's got a great story and interesting characters, but it's a little mature (there's a little nudity and little pixel characters in BED together! And the Soylent System scene is .... disturbing) and the 2nd disc is a little bit of a letdown. I think it depends on what you think is appropriate for her. If she likes oldschool, you can also get the older FF games and Chrono Trigger for PS1. Because Chrono Trigger is, of course, the greatest game EVER created.

You don't have to play the card game in VIII--though I did, and I loved it! By this time, I probably suck at it, though.Dustie wrote:der?!Uende wrote:I love Triple Triad!Dustie wrote:I really hated the card game aspect of FFVIII. Ignored the card game, til I realized you kind of had to play it, or the game was a lot harder.. so I never bothered to continue with it. Maybe one day I'll pick it back up to play.

I think that there is a point where you have to play the card game in IX, though. BTW, I love Zidane!
Legend of Dragoon had such cheesy voice acting in the end.

Everything that I've played has been suggested, but there are others sitting in my "to play" pile that she might like based on what she's played. Star Ocean, Chrono Cross, Chrono Trigger, and Xenogears (though I understand that this one has a lot of religious references and has been seen as somewhat anti-religious, but you've got to understand the cultural differences, too) to name a few.
You know, I think my "to play" pile is almost as daunting as some of you guys' "to scan" piles.
