It was on YJ and the owner will trade it for nice DBZ phone cards believe it or not. He also has the cel of SSJ2 Gohan doing the kamehameha with SSJ Goku by his side that was a close up that also went for $4000. He outbid my $4000. O_o;; He's got AWESOME cels, but won't consider offers or cel trades. He strictly is interested in phone cards. The SSJ2 Gohan cel was the end cel of the sequence so there wasn't any tears layer missing. They disappear at the end of the sequence. I can show a screen shot if needed.

Some kind of rare dbz phone card thing.... some of the japanese galleries have them (AHWW). They're so rare (to my knowledge) that I doubt we could get OUR hands on them. Hey GK, stop with-holding that info... how do you know the guy and does he have a gallery. ... Wait, no, I know the answer to that. No, most likely. But can I see a pic of that Kamehameha cel you were speaking of?

In my opinion, the only thing crazier than *cough* paint and acetate collecting is phone card collecting. Some measly dinky piece of 2x3 plastic selling for thousands of dollars???

Has anyone won any of the auctions so far? I tried my hand for that awesome group shot of Piccolo, Dende, Kami, etc. but was overbid. :P

hyelakingsfan,

The cards in the auction look like collector cards. Somone correct me if I'm wrong, but collector phone cards are literally phone cards. They're the size of credit cards, with a monetary value on them for making calls. They're used a lot in Asia, where public phones have a slot for you to insert them into. Though I guess no collector would stick his phone cards into a telephone.

Congrats to those who won something.

Oh i see. Thanks for the info. Those were the only types of cards that were really expensive so i thought for a sec that it might have been that. Thanks again :)

Jump gives out limited edition Phone cards limited to less than 10 or even less at times. When every boy in jp reads jump, its hard to win. Most are older than cels, prob makes it even harder. Larger collector base in phonecards too.

Some people like Toriyamas art better than studio reproduced style in cels.
Theres are a market for pretty much everything. US DBZ toys are some of the ugliest things ive seen created, yet they still sell... some even have premium value already.

If you ask me, Toriyama and the studio reproduced art looks very identical to me. Toriyama's has a bit more spirit perhaps because it is his artwork... but you know what really is ugly? The CG created box art for a lot of the dbz movie dvds... and I agree those toys are ugly (some of them).
