Let me think about believe for a while, then I'll get back to you. Of course I believe you. Do you have any reason to deceive me?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Metallica (back when they were good) - Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and the album that changed everything Master of Puppets.
Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime - concept album of the decade IMHO.
Always, always loved The Cult. Funny story...went to see them right after I got out of high school at The Forum (everybody from CA remember The Forum?). The opening band was some upstart called...um...I think they called themselves Guns and Roses.
We booed and heckled them until they got off-stage after only playing 2 songs.
Violent Femmes played the dance music of choice at our parties, along with Prince.
And being local boys, I also listened to my fair share of Toad the Wet Sprocket (I still listen to "Fear" from time to time
).
Side note: One of the best movie soundtracks for reliving the 80's comes from Gross Pointe Blank. God, I love that movie.

A trend they continued right up until the end. I loved GNR(saw them when they toured with Aerosmith and their fatal tour with Metallica), but AXL was a self-destructive dick. Saw Velvet Revolver a few months back, and that band kicks arse.transmet wrote: We booed and heckled them until they got off-stage after only playing 2 songs.![]()

*giggle* Oh boy. Vinyl. Here's a little trip in the wayback machine... we won't even stop in the 80's, keep on going'Krafty wrote:the first single I bought on 12" vinyl was Vanilla Ice with 'Ice Ice Baby' LOL That was so cool at the time.
My brother and I pooled our resources to buy our first album. And my grandmother (who was born in 1899, I'm serious here) paid the sales tax. It was:
Monster ... by Steppenwolf.

(Gram was just a *little* bit surprised when we played it for her...

Toad the Wet Sprocket!!! Woo!! (Seriously loved them.)

The cheesier the better! How about:
"867-5309 (Jenny)" by Tommy Tutone
"Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" by Rupert Holmes
either "Centerfold" or "Freeze Frame" by the J. Geils Band
and I'll second "Whip It!" that was previously mentioned.

None, that's a hardware problem.

Ah, the wonders of moden science. Many of the turntables you can buy nowadays have (weight/angle) adjustable tone arms anyway so it's not a problem.Baakay wrote:Course I have no working turntable any longer...and... even if I did, this vinyl got played on "stereo systems" where you had to tape a nickel on top of the arm to keep it from skipping.
In fact, I buy nearly as much vinly now as CD. Nice analogue sound (plus it's my fave for DJing).
I'm glad that most of the singles/albums I'm interested in have vinyl versions as well as CDs so I can buy both formats.
