I'm not sure I understand the implication of that.
The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Actually, I found the list pretty funny at first too.... just due to its excessive stupidity. Then I got to the bottom and saw that it's supposed to have come from the Catholic church... and, yup, that just.. got my goat. Darn goat getters! ^^;; (Couldn't it have just been a stupid "signs your kid might be goth" list instead of a stupid "signs your kid might be goth.... brought to you by the Catholic church!" list?? =P )
I just dislike the idea that someone will see that and think that Catholics really believe all that. There's no telling what someone will believe... I had someone ask me if we drink real blood during communion, and he did appear to be serious about the inquiry. It was during class when we were learning about transubstantiation.
And, lys, I apologize. Going back and rereading my post, it does appear that I'm singling you out and pointing my finger at you. I promise you that was not my intention when I made the post. Grouchiness and "ninja-posting" from work can make for a bad combination and curtness. I apologize you felt the need to edit your post.
So... um.. not sure if I should have "revived" this thread, but I felt the need to clarify at least a... tiny little bit. (I swear I'm not hypersensitive! ^^;; )

It does remind me of something I read in a theory book once, (darned if I can remember the name) but it was about the Catholic / Protestant conflict in the UK and Ireland. The author told the story of how he was handed a leaflet in the high street, which was a rant about how God did not want the Pope to visit England. He quoted from it and it went on about how the Catholic church ran the stock market (through the Virgin Mary, as I recall), and how it controled all the European governments, as well as those in N. America, and how the chruch was sneaking members into all levels of society and government in order to control England, etc.
The language was almost hysterical in tone, and was really more of a rant than anything else. So, being a semi-lapsed Catholic myself, I phoned a non-Catholic friend and read it to her, and asked if she understood the reasoning behind the wild claims. She didn't get it either. A professor friend of mine, who is a Catholic scholar, said he wasn't surprized by such a leaflet at all, and that that sort of thing pops up every so often.
So, maybe the letter was serious, just as that leaflet was. The fact that both of them seem amazingly stupid may not make them any less real or serious to the peron(s) who wrote them.
