I've only watched the anime and that was really sad. I'm not sure if I could take the live action drama :hurt:

I watched the animated version once, and can't bring myself to watch it again. The actors look just like the animated characters! 8O

I didn't know they had made a live version of "Grave of the Fireflies" either.

Let us know if the ending is the same as the anime. I would be very curious to know. The guy whose story this was about felt so guilty about the ending of the anime version that it makes me wonder if the ending will be similar or not.

I saw a Making Of and trailer when I was in Japan last month and it looked pretty good to me. I believe the main actor had to loose a lot of weight during the shooting of the film.

The scenes I saw were heartbreaking....be prepared!

Looks very good, I'm sure it will be just as intense as the animated moie, although I'm sure some scenes will be better than the anime and some will be less effective.
I couldn't fault the anime in terms of structure and detail so I'd hope the live-action captures some of these moments too. If it's as sad as the original, that'd be fitting. I can't have a happy ending because that would dumb down the harsh reality of the story.
That film goes on my wishlist ;)

I too would love to know what you think of this movie, kenshikenji. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch the animated version again, so heartbreakingly sad. :l
