It's pretty easy around the holidays to get caught-up in really trivial things. I do. Unfortunately, this year, I got a great big reminder of why we should cherish everything good in our lives, every moment.
Earlier tonight I attended a visitation for two little girls, 6 and 10, the youngest was the daugter of my best-friend's boyfriend. She cannot have children of her own and so had become very, very attached to this little girl.
Suffice it to say, tonight was. . . difficult. And I'm still finding myself having to chokeback a lot and really not doing well at it. But you know, I look at my two beautiful, beautiful children and. . they're okay. Right now, it is everything. I'm thinking though, maybe I take that for granted way too much.
So this is just a little reminder for the rest of you to not make that mistake.

It's good to be reminded that no matter how messy, loud, annoying or demanding they are, they're here and mine, and beautiful. Thanks for the reminder.
I hope you and everyone else there is able to take heart from the good that came from the tragedy, bittersweet though it is.

Who is your favorite character?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Then the Dean repeated the mantra that has had such a marked effect on the progress of knowledge through the ages.
'Why don't we just mix up absolutely everything and see what happens?' he said.
And Ridcully responded with the traditional response. "It's got to be worth a try,' he said
