Can the time window on this be increased so that it takes more than a few
minutes of idleness or one failed connect (as has been happening more
frequently lately) to totally reset your new posts list?
For example, I attempted to log in today at about 9:40. Due to connection
problems, I never was able to actually get through. Took about eleven
minutes for me to actually get connected. However, when I did, all the
posts since last night were no longer as new. I've noticed this before, but
it's becoming more of an issue with the slowness problems lately.

It depends on the environmental factors.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

I agree, sometimes RoadRunner gets a slight jutter and my Internet connection resets as I'm trying to load a page, so sometimes when I log into Anime-Beta all posts I haven't read from before are now marked as read, so when I get to the view new posts page, it says 0 new posts. Just a suggestion.

Yes, it is much the same.

I have heard this problem mentioned a time or two over the years. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to fix or change it. This site is a web interface over a database. The "posts since last visit" feature works by logging a time and date stamp to a database field when you log in. The database takes the previous time and date stamp and moves it to a different field. It compares the 2, and shows all the posts made since the older entry. Every time you log in, those fields change. The software makes no allowances for broken connections, accidental broswer closing...etc. It sucks, but that's how it's written.
I do have several sites I can check to see if anyone has written any kind of hack to customize the visit stamps. If I can find one, I will install it.
