So what manga's are you all currently buying and reading?
I have been a fan of Mangas for quite a while as an offshoot of my comic book artwork collection.
A lot of the ones I currently am reading are ones that give background depth to favorite animes as well as continue the stories when the anime left off. One's such as Oh my Goddess , Kare Kano , Ai Yori Aoshi fall into this catagory. Sazan Eyes (3x3 eyes) has stopped being published by Dark Horse so I am following the story online at http://sazanquest.cjb.net/
Others such as Negima & Tsubasa I have been reading before the anime's started production.
A few others the story and artwork caught my eye. Yotsuba& is quite fun and can make you think a bit when seeing small new things can bring a sense of wonder to Yotsuba , things we might not see the same way as a small child for we have become jaded as we get older. Remote is a detective story and is simular to the "Bone Collector" series of books by Jeffery Deaver with some hentai fun. I"s is a fun story that boasts some of the finest artwork I have ever seen in a manga or US comic book.
So these are some I am currently reading , Whats on your reading list and what keeps you reading them?

Right at the moment I'm mostly reading the all-word variety of things. Specifically, the Vampire Hunter D novels! (I'd be reading Slayers, too, if they hadn't stopped publishing them. *snivel*)
Between times, I continue to savor the flying chunks of meat in Lone Wolf & Cub (I shouldn't make fun; it is one of the most amazing things I've ever encountered). I await the arrival of 2 volumes of Buddha (Tezuka... one of the OTHER most brilliant things I've ever encountered). Both of these series have elements I love: great art, well-rounded out characters and a long, meaningful and stunningly written story.
I'm also stubbornly refusing to read the scanlations of Kenshin, thus extending this magical experience for as long as possible.
I've enjoyed every morsel of Yotsuba& so far and am hoping it has a good long run.
I also have five books on visual literacy, several on British history, and three volumes of snoozily written Bakumatsu history sitting beside my bed. I love all this stuff with a passion but I have a horrible habit of picking up the volume on the Choshu faction when I lay down. A few minutes later I'm smacking myself in the nose with it.

I think that is what got me started on manga. too. I am a huge fan usually b/c there is more storyline in the manga than in the anime series. For example, Angel Sanctuary is a 2 ep anime, but the 12th volume just came out in bookstores.JWR wrote:A lot of the ones I currently am reading are ones that give background depth to favorite animes as well as continue the stories when the anime left off.
As for a list of the ones I am currently reading:
Descendents of Darkness
Rurouni Kenshin
Fruits Basket
FullMetal Alchemist
Angel Sanctuary
Tsubasa Chronicles
Hikaru no Go
Deathnote
Samurai Deeper Kyo
I started Legal Drug, but it seems to be discontinued.

I'm also reading the Vampire Hunter D novels.
Others I have finished are
Demon Diaries
Gravitation
Wild Act
I'm also reading Inuyasha online, b/c they are not far enough in the English versions yet to get where the series leaves off.
Obviously, I try to get the 3 for 2 or 5 for 4 specials when I can at Borders.

Um, just before I went for broke on the Ichigo hanken, I indulged in the first three manga of Midori no Hibi. (Gee, Joe, I wonder why????
)
Before diving headfirst into cels and cordoning off all my money for them, I have too many series to list that I've got the beginnings of.
But, psst, if you look in the back of Samurai Deeper Kyo volume 5 or 6 (neighbor kids have glommed onto both of them, so I can't check), you'll find a Benitora fanart by Yours Truely.

Ones that I enjoy that I don't see mentioned much: Wild Act, King of Hell, Rebirth, and Here Is Greenwood.
Why?
Wild Act: Cute guys, (try to ignore the heroine *cringe* *cringe*) and a bit of a humorous romance
King of Hell: Cute guy (handsome man locked in his younger form) kicks arse with style, and reminds me of Samurai Deeper Kyo
Rebirth: Say it with me now: Cute guy
Vampire, kicks arse with style
Here Is Greenwood: You know it's coming: Cute guys
and the story is absolutely hilarious! I bought the anime on the strength of the manga, and was glad I had, because the anime skipped the second volume (and pointed out "if you want to know what happened, read volume 2!"
)
Yeah, I'm transparent.

I think, I have, by far, the wierdest reading habit/schedule and that is due in part to my schedule and manga availability. You may ask, "Isn't manga everywhere, I mean, B&N and Borders have whole sections now, what is the problem with availability? I guess it isn't so much availability as it is affordability.
I'm a cheap SOB and I find that the best time to get manga cheap and in bulk are at the cons. So in July, at AX and Comic-con, you will often see me with boxes of manga I've bought usually during the last day as dealers are frantically trying to unload their supplies. So I buy in July, spend the rest of the summer catching up on the manga and then go "dormant" for the rest of the year until con season arrives again.
But, to stay on topic, I am currently following:
AMG
Blade
Battle Angel Alita: Last Order
Usagi Yojimbo (not manga, per se, but a great read that reveals a lot about Japanese history and culture)
I hope to start reading:
Bleach
VHD novels
Leah, I frickin love the "Koko Wa Greenwood" OVA. My most fav, unknown anime of all time. I was looking forever for cels till I learned most of them were wiped. Ugh! I should have known there was manga for it and I will need to hunt down some copies post haste.

Let's see ...
I've been doing a lot of reading lately, but novels as opposed to manga. I've recently gotten hooked on a certain sci-fi/fantasy author, Lois McMaster Bujold, so I've read several of her books in the past few weeks. Plus, I read a sort of mystery/thriller novel that my husband bought for himself. Oh .. and "Going Postal", by Terry Pratchett. Can't get enough Pratchett.
I'm about half-way through reading the latest Vampire Hunter D novel, although I wasn't sure if it counted as "manga".
Manga-wise, I'm consistently following Blade of the Immortal & Saiyuki/Saiyuki Reload. I try to pick up each new graphic novel for these series as soon as it comes out. We're talking total manga luv here!
(LOL)
I'm also (sort of) reading Descendants of Darkness, Bleach, Naruto, Shaman King, Full Metal Alchemist, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Flame of Recca, and Rurouni Kenshin. I say "sort of", because I will just pick up the graphic novels as the mood strikes me. So, it's not really a consistent thing --- depends on how much I have in line to read at the time, novel-wise ... or how much work I'm getting done on my own writing.

As far as what I've been reading, I think the only things recently have been Bleach and Death Note. Oh, and my roommate's copies of Diablo and . . . dangit . . . ummm, Wallflower! Gosh, I must be really tired.
