Yep, Kira ... I'm with you. Although there are lulls here and there, I don't think I'll ever stop collecting from Saiyuki. I just love the artwork and characters too much.

Metheus: That cel is gorgeous! I love the character design, the pose, and the unusual perspective of the shot. What anime is it from?

Tex-chan: I picked up a misc. cel from museum last summer, the design was nice. Then saw some on YJP that were similar, picked them up(howdy_com was the seller). Anyrate, turns out the cells are from "Love Doll" if my research is correct, not sure why, but "H" series do tend to have fairly good character design. Reminds me of how people bought "Mei King" cels for a while there after noticing how nice the art was.

BTW, nice Pia Carrot cels Krafty.

I've scanned and uploaded the complete storyboard to BLEACH, Episode one. I've got the first of each three pages as the main image and the thumbnail, and the following two pages in the sketch slots.

102 pages...I'm going to soak my fingers now...

Tex: So YOU were the mystery SMJ bidder, LOL! Good to hear, I always keep an eye out for who's bidding on the same series as me but I thought you restricted yourself to Ebay auctions most of the time.
That was the seller whom I asked if he shipped internationally- if he did I would have bid on a few other bits including that one you nabbed, glad I didn't get in your way.
I just counted up my Virus cels and there's 10 next to me now and I think I've got 5-10 on hold with deputies, it's been 6 months so I can't remember.

Metheus: Nice setup there, I remember seeing it but I didn't know if it was a print or an actual cel because the setup looked too perfect! The seller (Midori's husband) had another one or two similar ones didn't he? I think I remember a girl in a yellow top by an allyway BG...
Keep working on that new gallery- I wanna see the 18+ images anyway, I'm not so innocent as you know

Irmgaard: Nice looking storyboard, I bet you needed a rest after all that scanning- well done for sticking with it! Have you noticed the varying quality in storyboards? I've got several and a couple are amazingly detailed and similar to the on-screen image whereas others are lame stickmen.
Do you have a variation like this and how does it affect the way you feel about them?

Nope ... I wasn't the SMJ bidder. I use Rinkya. I used to get a lot of cels off of Ebay, and still manage to run across a nice Virus cel there from time to time, but I seem to get into so much trouble with private sales and YJ that I don't cruise Ebay as much as I used to. Hmmm ... does this actually mean I have my addiction "under control" ...??

Difference in quality

Not just between different storyboards, but from image to image in the same one!

I take the view that they are something of a "peek backstage" so I cut them a lot more artistic slack than the other production art. Of course some of them, the Fullmetal Alchemist one for instance, can easily stand on their own merits.

The absolute worst of mine is BLEACH Episode 33, a filler episode, and it looks like the production staff was so uninvolved they put in the absolute minimum effort required! I still enjoyed looking at it though

Such fine work in that cel HotIce, he look great. It can't be easy for the painters to keep within the lines when the angles are so tight and the lines are so thin- that takes some skill!

I had been looking into fancels recently and when I saw a few Kenshin ones I put my bids in. One went for over 15,000y which I thought was a lot, but I was happy to win this on YJ for less.
I prefered the dark feel to this shot anyway. The detail looks impressive but I'll only know for sure when I receive it [I have a backlog of 60 auction wins held with Rinkya right now, heh] ^__^

Nice comparrison Irmgaard but I get a different feel from the expression.
I prefer to think of the Himura image as "I've got out of bed on the wrong side, don't mess with me" rather than the Elvis "give this sad puppy dog a hug". No offense but I dislike Elvis and everything about his projected/portrayed image *shudders*
