Need some cheering up

Post by Gonzai »

Well, travelling always has its downfalls, and today
it kicked me in the ass big time. I have been waiting
patiently for an update on a website, a personal
request from me to the cel dealer. I knew it was
coming, as the cel dealer told me he was going to
update. Some of you knew how excited I was about
this update. Anyway, I woke up this morning, checked
the site and he had not updated yet. I got finished
packing, and checked it again before I ran out the
door - nothing. I get to O'Hare Airport in Chicago,
pull out my laptop and log on only to find he had
updated and my requests were already reserved. :l
Not sure I have ever been so upset about anything
in my whole life. Sometimes I just don't like this
hobby, and now is one of those times. I think at this
point, it would be easy to walk away for good. Any
words of encouragement?? :l

Missing an update due to travel can be a real bummer - it has happened to me a couple of times.

If this dealer is someone that you regularly buy from, I'm rather surprised that they didn't offer certain items (certain characters?) to you first, before adding it to their sale page. Perhaps you can ask them in the future to let you have first choice?

If it's who I think it is...I hope I didn't get what you wanted ^^;!

What I got doesn't include the most amazing piece of BLEACH art I've even seen...So hopefully that cheers you up ;.;! I had to literally pull money outta my a$$ to get these wishlist sets ^^;! PM me if you want to tell me what it was ^^;!

There are several cels in my collection that I got on the second time around, so it does happen. 8)

Sometimes the hunt seems to take over, but if you pull out your cel books and enjoy what you have, I am sure you will remember why you collect and the one that got away will join all the other ones that we all miss, in the dark and murky past

:l Awww, I'm so sorry you missed out on something you were so excited about, Nida. Especially since you knew what was coming and still missed it.... such a bummer!! I thought of you immediately when I saw some new pretty HNG sketches... I don't know if that was what you were hunting or not, but please don't let the disappointment of missing some beautiful items ruin your enjoyment of the hobby in general. You have so many gorgeous things already, and I'm sure there are move lovelies yet to come for you!! I'm sure that rings hollow when you are hurt and disappointed, but know that we've all tasted at least a little bit of what you're feeling at one time or another. We're all here to lend a sympathetic shoulder and a great big hug!! :ghug:

I was so busy earlier marvelling at how long it takes me to do anything, that I didn't even see the update! And I'd be willing to bet you'd have zeroed in on the same set of sketched I just looked at, open-mouthed.

That really stinks.

How about if give you a huge, Sai-loving hug, :friends: and one of these:

Edit: eep. didn't quite realize how gynormous that picture was. I pieced him together last weekend, thinking of you... Just so you know.

I know exactly how you feel, Nida. The disappointment over losing what you really wanted is so frustrating. Just remember, there is always something that pops up after you miss something you really wanted that makes it a little less painful.

I realize you knew this one was coming up so you are probably more upset b/c you missed it. *I am a little surprised the cel dealer didn't sell it to you rather than post it* But I'm sure something else will come up...there have been so many lately!

Go back and look at all the wonderful gengas and cels you do have and truly appreciate them!

Thanks for the kind words everybody!!
As it turns out, the person who got what
I was wanting contacted me and let me
know if he ever sells it, he will let me
have it. I know he will take great care of
it, so that makes me feel a lot better. :)
However, when I think back to the fact
that I cried - in a public place - over missing
out on the update, I start questioning myself
and wonder if this hobby is healthy for me. X|
Think it may be time to walk away from it for
awhile. :?

Oh, like you're the only person who's ever cried at O'Hare Airport! :) I doubt anyone even noticed. I hope you feel better after a good night's sleep, Nida. :friends:

:friends: :friends: :friends: It is an emotional roller coaster, isn't it? :friends: :friends: :friends:
At least for those of us that are so wrapped up in our favorite character.

And even at our tiny airport, people are crying all the time. Usually it goes unnoticed, and no one ever asks or wonders. :friends:

I think we all wonder the same thing for one reason or another. The other night after looking at a dealers website, I couldn't get one genga set out of my head. The price had been reduced and I wanted it. I was already in bed, but ended up getting up and sending the e-mail before I could go to sleep. I was so worried someone else would buy it b/c the priced was reduced I couldn't go to sleep. Or when an auction ends at 4:00a so you either try to stay up or get up and then are upset b/c you slept through it and lost. I know I have wondered about if this is a hobby or an obsession more than once. *I know which it is, but I haven't found and AA for anime anonymous yet*

As for crying at the airport, I'd have to agree with shellie and aernath and their comments.

"Its not how many times you fall down,
Its how many times you get back up"

i know its a little cliche but i think works
well for this hobby. i also think its what
makes this hobby so much fun, sometimes
you win big, sometimes you get kicked
in the teeth. you just need to pick yourself
up and dust youself off, cuz you cant win
them all. but i dont think anybody would
hold it against you if you decided to take
a week or 2 off

Awwww nida-chan, I know how it feels to lose out on something you've been waiting for.. but we've all felt that way (which is what makes this community so familial and comfy to stay in!) ^.^ so you're in good company and we're always here for you! *huggles* And you're the biggest HnG fan I know and you're also one of the kindest, nicest people I know, and you deserve the best.

Don't feel bad about crying either, the number of times I've cried at the airports... tis why I don't like airports, always having to say goodbye to something! X|

If you ever need to talk, just let me know! And it may not seem like much right now, but something better will come along - it's true! *hugs* Awww hunni, you're such a wonderful friend to have, you really do deserve the best. /kis

I hopes you feels betters soon! *glomps* Lemme know if there's anything I can do, ne? ^.^
