O...M...G...box of hockey cards

alright so 3 days ago i went on to ebay and bought a box of 2005-06 SPX hockey (one of the best sets out there) and it cost me about $153. so today i wake up and go to school and had to do this stupid mid-term test, which wasnt so bad (hopefully) then i come home and sleep and when i wake up, i go to check the mail and i see that there is a box in my kitchen, so i get a knife rip off the tape and open the box. I am slowly opening the packs so none of the cards will get messed up (i love opening packs of cards) The first pack i open is a Martin St. Louis jersey autograph card which is limited to only 50. I thought, what a great start. Then i open other packs get some other good cards such as an Eric Staal & Justin Williams double jersey card limited to 350. But nothing reallllllly big came up...........until i reached the LAST PACK. I opened the pack and slowly & gently slid the first card across, and i see a SIDNEY CROSBY ROOKIE CARD!!!!! THIS CARD IS THE BEST CARD IN THE SERIES. It was limited to 499 and it is a AUTOGRAPHED JERSEY CARD!!!!! so i went crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. i started jumping around and everything. For people who dont know who Crosby is...he is bound to become one of the greatest players in hockey history...and this card is worth a whopping $1,250.00!!!!!!!! Man today started off ok cause of the test, but then i woke up and this. Man this is awesomeeeeee.

I know absolutely NOTHING about hockey trading cards, but I do know that if you find a rare card in any set you are one lucky dog!!

Congrats! That is VERY cool!

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Hey, and I hope your exam went well, too!

What a find! I was collector for years, so I do remember the joy of that awesome rare "pull." The only cards I collect now are of Roger Clemens. I bought a box of 2001 Bowman a couple years back(every so often, I get a jones to open a box of cards) and pulled a redemption card for a signed Roger Clemens card. Granted, it was worth about 1/10th of your Sid Crosby card, but it was still a cool card of my favorite player. Many congrats! Crosby is one hell of a talent, and I see him becoming the next Lemieux. I'd send that puppy into Beckett and get it graded. Also, Beckett has a section in their magazine for amazing pulls. Take a pic of yourself holding the card and the box and send it in with your story. Maybe you'll get in the magazine!

So im not the only one

i love card collecting. i have done that for many many years, but the last box i bought was prob more than a year ago. So this is a good start to a comeback...maybe lol. My relative was once in beckett (and i have the beckett with him and his story) and he pulled a jordan card or something like that which was very rare and limited. but im scared to move the card let alone take it into beckett lol. Also, there are 499 of them so 499 people can pull it. Beckett will not put my story inside. NOW, there is a Crosby card which is limited to 5. If i got that, then maybe i would send in a story and all that. eh i dunno, but what i do know is that i wanna buy some more boxes!!!!
