Pope Benedict XVI Seriously ill

News services have reported that Pope Benedict has been stricken gravely ill with a respiratory ailment that doctors have confirmed is the virulent H5N1 Avian Flu. Doctors in the Vatican are keeping him isolated and treating him with Tamiflu; however, given his age and the previous history of the virus, they are quite concerned. Prayers and thoughts of sympathy are solicited.

While the H5N1 virus has been known to be present in Italy since early February, when the first cases were detected among wild swans, it is still uncertain how the Pontiff contracted the ailment. Italian public health officials knowledgable about the disease said it was most likely that he caught the flu from a Cardinal.
