Well, as I've been home fighting whatevertheheck virus got brought home last, I've been working my way through Samurai 7 I wasn't feeling the love until I went back and rewatched the first episode. Now it's really growing on me :) Halfway through now...

On one of the discs happened to be the first 4 eps of Sweet Valerian. About all I can say to this one is: now I know why only six eps have been fansubbed! X|

Last week I tried to watch my favorite anime first and work my way down. This week I made it a priority to watch my least favorite anime first:

Himawari 2 (okay/fair - 5.2):
I didn't like this episode as much as the first. The second episode was much more serious, mellow and slow. It felt as though I was watching a middle or late episode instead of a second episode. I think it would have had a lot more meaning if I had gotten to know her character better before this story was shown. Well whatever. As others have said, the animation for the second episode was pretty nice.

Utawarerumono 3 (okay/decent - 5.5):
Okay...no big secret here. One reason I like this show is because of the female characters. I like it for other reasons too, but that's the biggest reason. This episode introduced three female characters and a couple of male characters. It should be interesting to see where they all fit into the whole scheme of things.

.hack//ROOTS 2 (okay/fair - 5.2):
Pretty slow start for the series, but I'll still watch it for now.

Yume Tsukai 2:
I skimmed through this just to be sure of how much I like it. It was another shamanic battle with a girl's bad dream, but this time they had the assistance of a shamanic male character. I'm still not into this so I'm definitely dropping this now.

Yoshinaga-san Uchi no Gargoyle 3:
This one was about Lili the ?telepath and the Magician thief. I kept hearing those Japanese words said so often during "Full Metal Alchemist". :D This series is alternately funny and sad. Unfortunately I'm not able to get into this series so I'm going to have to drop it. :(

Witchblade 3 (okay - 5.4):
A pretty fun episode. I would prefer if her figure wasn't so lopsided however. I'm curious what's in store for next week. :D

Hime-sama Goyoujin 2 (fair - 5.1):
I didn't like this episode as much as the first one. I found the first seven minutes funny, but the main girl spends most of the rest of the episode crying because of the crazy situations she was put in. That was funny at the start, but got to be pretty annoying after awhile. Some of the jokes I found funny, but there were too many other things that brought me down from those jokes and they stifled the humor. I'm going to have to drop this series.

Inukami! 3 (fair - 5.1):
I didn't like this episode as much as the first two. It didn't feel very funny. It seemed rather predictable and cliched. This was more like an Urusei Yatsura episode than the previous eps. I hope the next episode will be more creative and less cliched.

High School Girls 2 (mediocre - 4.1):
I had a difficult time getting through this. I found it unpleasant. I'm not going to be watching this any more. :)

Saiunkoku Monogatari 2 (okay - 5.4):
I liked this episode much more than the first. We got some backstory on the characters here and I found it fairly funny too. It's nice to have an admirable anime lead instead of the usual arrogant, wimpy or young, inexperienced, inarticulate, confused displaced newbie types that we usually get. The artwork is growing on me too.I find it pretty ironic that Hikaru Midorikawa (Tamahome), Tomokazu Seki (Chichiri) and Akemi Okamura (Yuiren) are contributing their voice talents to this series (Hikaru Midorikawa especially). Everytime I hear Hikaru Midorikawa's character speak I'm reminded of Tamahome because of the similar settings. I'm putting Saiunkoku Monogatari on my "regular watch" list for now.

Soul Link 3 (fair - 5.15):
Some of the stuff they're doing continues to feel militarily implausible and ridiculous, but I will continue to persevere with this series. As the Tick says, "Must go on....must...go...on". :D

Shoujo Changumu no Yume 2 (okay/fair - 5.2):
It's odd that it took me so long to realize that Miki Itou (Asa in Shuffle!) does Changumu's voice. But it finally came to me after hearing the way she voiced one tiny phrase. This episode continued the cooking competions which made me think of "Cooking Master Boy" and Yakitate! Japan" again. :) I don't think I'll watch any more of this because of the TYPE of story it is. This would be a good show to watch with your kids however.

Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club 2 (fair - 5.15):
Between the three lead voice actreses we have so far (Sasami, Misao and Makoto) I'd still have to say that I like Sasami's the most. Misao's and Makoto's sound a bit flat at times, but I'll take that as a given since they are only fifteen and thirteen years old respectively. I'm going to watch this just to hear how the other two seiyuu sound. :P

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu 2-3 (okay/decent - 5.5):
Pretty enjoyable show. I'm going to have to agree with those who have stated that KyoAni are the "gods of animation". I'm going to have to make it a priority to watch everything that KyoAni (and Gonzo) make in the future (if they fit my interests that is).

Fate/stay night 16 (decent/fairly good - 5.7):
Pretty cool, amusing and yet revealing at the same time. *cough* *cough* Oh, oh...look at that final scene there. Not good. 8O

School Rumble 2nd Term 2-3 (ep. 2 okay - 5.25, ep. 3 okay - 5.4):
I thought the second episode was "alright", but the third made me smile. I think I'm getting used to this show now. :)

Simoun 2-3 (ep. 2 - okay/fair - 5.2, ep. 3 - fair - 5.0):
The second episode was kind of slow paced, but thoughtful. Many of the scenes had airy violin music playing in the background. The third episode felt rather boring to me because 93 percent of the first seventeen minutes consisted only of standing around dialog, transition scenes or flashbacks. It was only until the final five minutes when the characters started moving around much. :P The main plot still hasn't been revealed. I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on this series because it's just too slow and not interesting enough for me to continue. :(

TOKKO 1 (fair - 5.15):
There's not much I like at all about this series. I didn't care for the characters, the story, the coolness factor, the animation or the action scenes. So I won't be watching any more of it.

Black Lagoon 2 (okay - 5.25):
Okay...I'm not sure whether that move should make me crap in my pants or make me bust out laughing. Maybe a little of both. LOL I might watch another episode of this, but I can't quite call this a "regular watch" any longer.

Alright, it's getting too late to watch anything else. I need to surf Yahoo Japan before going to sleep. I'll have to see Zegapain 3, hack//ROOTS 3, Higurashi 3 and Ouran 3 later. :(

Here's my updated watch list:

1. Utawarerumono 1-3 (okay/decent - 5.5)
2. Ohran High School Host Club 1-2 (okay/decent - 5.5) - Pretty fun so far.
3. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu 1-3 (okay/decent - 5.45) - **bows down before KyoAni**
4. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 1-2 (okay - 5.4) - Didn't like the 1st episode, but liked the 2nd much better..
5. Witchblade 1-3 (okay - 5.4) - I like it, but I'm not into the genre too much.
6. Himawari 1-2 (okay - 5.3) - I liked the first ep more than the second.
7. .hack//ROOTS 1-2 (okay - 5.3) - Starting off slow, but I'll see where it goes.
8. Saiunkoku Monogatari 1-2 (okay - 5.3) - I liked the 2nd episode much more than the first.
9. School Rumble second term 1-3 (okay - 5.3) - I'm slowly getting used to it. :)
10. Zegapain 1-2 (okay - 5.3) - I like this for reasons unrelated to quality. :P
11. Black Lagoon 1-2 (okay - 5.25) - Kind of fun.
12. The Third 1 (okay - 5.25) - I might like this or I might not.
13. Strawberry Panic 1-2 (okay/fair - 5.2) - Not sure how long I'll be watching this.
14. Inukami! 1-3 (fair - 5.15) - Sort of liked the first 2 eps, but not the third.
15. Soul Link 1-3 (fair - 5.15) - Pretty bland so far, but I'll try to tough it out. :P
16. Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club 1-2 (fair - 5.15) - I want to hear how the seiyuu sound.

Not officially dropped, but almost:
none

Anime Dropped This Week:

:D Wheeeee! The famous Skirty Pants Tour!! Atsushi might as well retire now... he'll never top that one! ;)

And I actually also have an on-topic reason to post in this thread for once! :D I rarely start a new series, usually only a couple a year, but I have been watching Eureka 7 and am really enjoying it. Yah, yah, so it's like everything else I watch... lots of mech, interesting characters with a mysterious past... but, hey, I know what I like, and I'm stickin' with it! ;)

I hope the ending is good. (I only have 6 or 8 episodes left to go.) I'm already dreaming up how it could wrap up... and I'm hoping a couple of my guesses AREN'T correct! :) (I'm hoping beyond hope for at least a satisfying ending. ;))

It was ok. I loved the setup and the character designs, but the actual
episode didn't live up to expectations. Wasn't bad..just very mediocre.

Glad you've started to like School Rumble and Suzumiya Haruhi. :)

A few of my recently watched shows... Nana (#3) is on its way to being a consistently enjoyable show...and the cool Nana is up next. Strawberry Panic (#3) looks like it has potential, though I might have given it up if I wasn't so interested in the secrets behind Shizuma. (#16) Fate/Stay Night's pacing feels rough at times, but the mystery of what's going to happen in the future (Sakura!) still has me hooked as much as ever. And I like Jigoku Shoujo's (#14) music, mystery, and Enma Ai as much as ever.

I haven't been in this thread for quite some time. I just wanted to pop in and say what a great job Keropi is doing. I enjoy the reviews he does :D I've been watching quite a few of the new anime myself, but since I have been active with my friends, I haven't had as much time to watch a lot of anime as I used to. It's nice having friends who are night owls like me, but it sucks that they don't like anime X|

Ohran High School Host Club - 01 - 03
This anime is just cute and funny. I love the silliness.

Mushishi & Jigoku Shoujo are just great anime.

I really like Kashimashi, I don't know why, but I really liked this series specially after ep 2.

Is it just me or was anyone sad that Nanoha A's & Mai Otome ended. I really hope more comes out from these series.

I keep looking for announcements that there may be a third season, but still no hint on the web. Nanoha A's was my favorite among the recent anime series. At least I have my production drawings. If there was to be a third season, a dilemma exists where to place the time frame of the continuation. I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed :)

Then we feel somewhat similarly.

From what I've heard intimated, some of the best scenes in the game were the ones involving Sakura.
Ashura wrote:I've been watching quite a few of the new anime myself, but since I have been active with my friends, I haven't had as much time to watch a lot of anime as I used to.
Nice to see you in this thread again even if it's for only a short while. :)

I fell behind on my anime because of my odd work scheduling, but I did manage to catch these:

Zegapain 3 (okay - 5.4):
I thought this was rather interesting. This anime is keeping me off-balanced and I'm wondering what the heck is really going on. 8O

Himawari 3 (okay - 5.25):
The voice acting remains a distraction for me. I'm often thinking more about HOW they're saying things than WHAT they're saying. I didn't find the competition event in this episode to be very interesting. We had some slight Azami character development here, but the story still felt fairly fillerish to me.

Ouran High School Host Club 3 (okay/decent - 5.45):
Pretty funny. I like what they did with that symbolic kite. :)

The Third 2 (okay - 5.3):
I found this more interesting than the first episode. The animation remains decent. The narration is a bit distracting though even if this story came from a novel. I will keep watching this to see where it goes just like I did with GunxSword.

Utawarerumono 4 (okay - 5.4):
Sometimes this anime is a bit too bloodless. It becomes confusing as to how injured people are/become. Oboro is still "aikawarazu":----------> http://japanese.about.com/blsjp34_5.htm/
He needs a whack to the skull. :wack

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu 4 (okay/decent - 5.5):
This has an unusual story structure. I see they've started bringing up the issue with the warping. Now at least I know people weren't making that stuff up. But I must say this is a difficult show to tell if people are making up stuff. :D

Witchblade 4 (okay - 5.3):
Talk about your freaky otaku types. lol Okay...they're not actually otakus, but that's the impression they gave me. This was a somewhat amusing episode. The next episode might have a cool fight if the ending is any clue. But there's no way to tell what's going to happen next week because the episode previews never show scenes from the next episode. They only show handwritten letters with a voice over by one of the anime's characters. I wonder what those letters have written on them?

Inukami! 4 (okay - 5.25):
It was cool to see Yui Horie being evil and nasty even it was for only a short time. That rarely ever happens in the anime I've seen her voice in. I thought this episode was "okay". It's barely hanging in there.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 3-4 (ep.3 okay - 5.4, ep.4 - decent/fairly good - 5.7):
Episode three I thought was funny in an evil sort of way. But the next episode seems to be implying why those things are happening. Some of those scenes were hard to take. They had me at the edge of my seat and gave me goosebumps. I love this nasty, backstabbing dark stuff. **evil grin** "kana...kana?" 8O :evilblk

Episode three and four is begging to have an AMV set to "She Drives Me Crazy". That would be a laugh riot. Or sick. One of the two. :puzzled

It appears from what others have said that Higurashi might turn out to have a very unconventional story structure. People are making it sound as if it'll be like playing a game several times, but choosing different story paths each time. This could turn out very intriguing, but I'm sure it'll turn off people too. If you've played story games before, it wouldn't seem so offputting, but if you haven't, it'll take some getting used to.

Saiunkoku Monogatari 3 (okay - 5.3):
A fairly funny episode even if a bit slow. We had a couple of blushing bishie scenes and a couple of flower holding/hand holding bishie scenes. I think this will be my last episode of Saiunkoku Monogatari since I much prefer "blushing bishoujos" to "blushing bishies". :D

Fate/stay night 17 (decent/fairly good - 5.7):
It's kind of neat how the anime producers are trying to fit two separate storylines (maybe three) from the game into the same anime. It remains to be seen how heart breaking the anime will be compared to the game. If the anime turns out one-third as emotional as the game, the anime producers will have done their job. There are several reasons why it probably won't turn out that way, but it would be bad to go into those reasons now. This was the storyline that a lot of gamers wanted to see. Let's see how it turns out. 8O

The Third 3 (okay - 5.25):
There was so much narration in this episode it got on my nerves. I thought the episode was "alright", but I couldn't help feeling that it was a tad boring. :shrug

.hack//ROOTS 3 (okay - 5.25):
It's still slow, but I'm sticking to it. That ending part really reminded me of a spaghetti western gunfight scene:

1. Person A turns around and looks at Person B.
2. Person B looks at Person A.
3. Closer shot of Person A looking at Person B.
4. Closer shot of Person B staring at Person A.
5. Even closer shot of Person A looking at Person B.

...etc, etc.

Now I'm at this point:

1. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yutsu 1-4 (okay/decent - 5.5) - **bows down before KyoAni** :bwall
2. Utawarerumono 1-4 (okay/decent - 5.45)
2. Ohran High School Host Club 1-3 (okay/decent - 5.45) - Pretty fun so far.
4. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 1-4 (okay - 5.44) - Didn't like the 1st episode, but I liked it after that (esp. episode four). :evilblk
5. Witchblade 1-4 (okay - 5.35) - Not bad, but I'm not really rolling with it yet.
6. Zegapain 1-3 (okay - 5.34) - It's keeping me off-balanced. :P
7. School Rumble second term 1-3 (okay - 5.3) - I'm slowly getting used to it. :)
8. .hack//ROOTS 1-3 (okay - 5.28 ) - Starting off slow, but I'll see where it goes.
9. Himawari 1-3 (okay - 5.27 ) - I liked the first ep more than the second and third.
10. The Third 1-3 (okay - 5.26) - I will watch this for now.
11. Black Lagoon 1-2 (okay - 5.25) - Kind of fun.
12. Strawberry Panic 1-2 (okay/fair - 5.23) - Not sure how long I'll be watching this.
13. Inukami! 1-4 (fair - 5.21) - I'm off and on with this series.
14. Soul Link 1-3 (fair - 5.15) - Pretty bland so far, but I'll try to tough it out. :P
15. Sasami ~ Mahou Shoujo Club 1-2 (fair - 5.15) - I want to hear how the seiyuu sound.

Decided to drop this week:

Saiunkoku Monogatari

Well, starting Monday, since I decided not to go with everyone up to Orno, I will have more time by myself this week (kinda good, kinda bad lol).

I tried watching Witchblade #1, but for some reason it isn't working, I get the voices, but no pictures. I have both JLC & real player, so it may be a new codec that I need :?

Other than that, I have been playing Ms Pac-man. Sasha, this little girl in the building bought me the little joystick game. All you do is plug it to the tv and viola, it works. Plus, it is a wireless joystick remote, so I can sit anywhere and play it. I thought it was neat and really nice of her to buy it for me. Cute little girl. She wanted to thank me for buying the Hello Kitty Play house. I thought it would be nice for the kids since the weather has been beautiful and they have been playing in it everyday since I got it. The best and worst part is that everytime they see me, they run and give me hugs, so by the time I get in my place, I have all these fingerprints all over my legs, butt, stomach and back :l My clothes are starting to hate me...lol
