Had to say it...
i noticed that some people sign up to beta just to sell their items. I dont think beta was created for that. I dunno why but it annoys me that the only reason some people sign up is for that.
I wanna know what other people think about that too.

I shoudl say yes and no.... (so i did not vote
)
I totally understand your feeling
This is annoying.....
But in practice, how can one check it???? Also if there are more restrictions then it might not be fun place to be..... It might cause a new problem etc..... So I think it might not be practical, IMO.....
But I hear ya

yeah i know, but i wouldnt want any restrictions, i would just want the people who do it to think twice before doing it. This forum was not made to just sell and buy things. I mean i wouldnt care that much if they posted 3 times and only 1 of them was something about selling, but some people post just to sell stuff.

I know a couple of people who are lurkers on this board. They are really nice people, and great collectors. But, they often feel shy talking in a large group or on a forum setting like this. And, let's face it -- beta isn't always the friendliest place to be. Don't get me wrong. I like this board, which is why I still try and post here. But, I can also understand how someone, especially someone who is new and/or a bit shy, might be hesitant about posting in a lot of topics.
But, when they are selling things, which, at least for the people I know, they are doing because they need money to pay bills, they feel compelled to post about the sale on here, just in hopes of selling their items and getting the money they need. So, they do it, even though they are shy and/or uncomfortable in doing so. It's more of a self-preservation thing on their part than trying to "take advantage" of the board's existence just to make some sales.
This is just my two cents' worth on the topic. I can also understand how it is irritating to see where it seems like the only time people post is for a sale. So, I can see both sides here. I was just trying to supply a different point of view. Hopefully, I won't end up offending anyone. LOL

It used to bother me somewhat, but it doesn't now. People just do whatever they want and I realized it wasn't worth getting bothered over it.
People used to do that on our board. They'd register just to advertise and sell their stuff. Then they'd never take part in any discussions. It was annoying for a bit, but life moved on.

I agree with Tex, I can see both sides of it. I know a lot of people prefer
to lurk because they are shy or don't feel they have much to offer in
certain discussions. I don't actually pay any attention to people who
sign up just to post a sale. Someone recently did that and did apologize
for doing so in the actual post itself, which made me think "Wow, Beta
must really have a bad rep..." or something. I mean, an apology didn't
seem necessary. Aren't we cel collectors? Don't you want to know if a
wishlist is put up for sale? I personally don't mind. But it seemed the
poster felt as though their head was going to be bit off. As long as the
sale post is in the For Sale section, I don't see the problem. Where else
should you post about a cel being for sale than on a cel forum?
More restrictions would be cumbersome and annoying. As long as the seller
is someone trustworthy and doesn't rip off someone, I ultimately don't care
what other members do on Beta. There's a warning in the sale section
anyway, so it's up to each member's own discretion. If you don't feel it's
safe, don't go through with it.

Yes, I find it a bit annoying. Less now that I did before though. I kinda feel that in order to sell something on this board, you need to earn the right by having participated in the discussions but more and more I'm not concerned. I feel as stated above that the more options the better.

That could be quite a while. The anonymous "they".

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
