I have 2 framed cels (Iria:)) that were purchased that way. Oh and a framed fan cel that my husband made me. I am too nervous to frame the others though... Have tried to think of ways to build a frame that I can rotate cels in and out of for there protection. Also have printed 4x6 scans out of my cels and have one of those frames that hold 40 pics and you can rotate. It isn't the same as looking at your cels, but you can still 'see' your cels without exposing them to the light.

Don't worry DT I'm tied with you at 21 framed cels.

Two of them came already framed. Four I had done because I really liked them.

The other fifteen I had framed due to size. They were all too big for the largest cel books I could find (three are over 30 inches counting the BGs). I used to store them flat under the bed but I still worried about damage since 15 oversized cels with BGs, sketches and multiple layers can get kind of heavy. They were also different shapes (square, long, diagonal pans) so stacking them tended to cause bending. :? I had them done professionally (I don't mean a teenager at Aaron brothers) with acid-free materials and UV "glass". It was expensive, but I'm a klutz when it comes to anything arty so I knew that was the better way for me to go.

Nine of them are displayed and the rest are stored upright facing a wall in my closet. None of them are where they are exposed to direct light. I have not noticed any fading yet and some of them have been framed and displayed for years.

Well, I'm running a close second....I have 18 cels framed. They were professionally done, all archival, spacers, etc. and are hanging in my upstairs hallway with no direct sunlight....only light comes from the skylight which is about 5 ft high into the roof.

YAY! :jump I feel better.

I should add that 2 of those came framed. They are my ANC repros. The other 19 I had professionally framed with UV protected glass, archival holders, etc. The 2 that were damaged were just receiving sunlight and I didn't know it until it was too late. I'm rarely up first thing in the morning so I didn't realize the sun reached that area. And they were Sailor Moon cels to boot. Those have problems with line fading anyway. Oh well! They'll just never leave my possession.

I have two cels framed. One is a Ghibli reproduction cel and the second an AMG Hanken cel. The only way I would consider having a cel framed is if I wanted to give the cel special protection and/or it was a display piece that I absolutely wanted to have for viewing. In either case, I would use a professional archival framing service.

Well.. lemme just be the recordbreaker here. ALL my cels are framed. All of mine and 4D's - everything in our gallery except CG show sketches, and even then, the hankens are all framed save one. ^_^ Not only are they all framed, but 4D and I do it all ourselves. :) Check out the virtual tour on our non-RS gallery site if you care to see.

Note: yes, we're nuts. While we worry about the condition of our cels, we'd also rather be able to see them everyday then hide them in books which we occasionally flip through. If I couldn't have them on the walls, I'd rather not have them at all. But that's just me.

I don't have anything framed, mostly b/c there's nowhere to put it. All of the rooms in my parents' house get a lot of sunlight. Besides, if I spent my money on framing, what would I use to buy more cels? :P

I used to frame cels. I don't frame them much anymore because I don't have any space orextra money to do so. I will, however, get back to framing all of my artwork after I move into my first house and have plenty of money for that. That will be in 7 more years. :)

The most beautiful cels of my gallery are framed. I want to see them every day and every time I enter in my room. But I've chosen a not very luminous room :D

THIS is my preferred frame

Ok I guess I am Mr. Fram :D I have almost 60 cels framed by myself (1 not). For me the only way I can spend dollars & dollars on a draw is to see it. I can't imagine to have thousand of dollars in a book inside a cupboard. If you see on my gallery the section on the wall you can see them hanging. I have like 20 on the wall at the same time, so every 2-3 month I change the cels. There is no light (sun) that go directly to the frame. Most of them are in a couloir and sometimes the light is turn on. I buy simple fram that you can find on stores to put a picture, I then do the mate and that's it. Never had a problem with any of my cels. I even open on of the first fram I did and took the cel off, no problem, was not sticked to the glass. Was a bit stick to the background but no damage.

4. SSJ4 Vegeta

and Ive got a downpayment on another framed SSJ4 Vegeta cel.
Kaminari bought the Vegeta from me and can tell that it's good quality even if it was not done by a professional.

All you should fram you cels by buying simple fram, of course hang them somewhere the sun can not touch directly the cel, you won't have any problem. Try one month, remove the cel and see if there is any damage (try with a cheap cel)

I also found that is a good way to share my passion with my friends and family when they visit me. Well at the beginning my wife was not very happy to see all this fram around but at the end she like it. I manage to put some on the living room, daughter's room, both bathroom :-)

You never really see how truely stunning your cels can be untill they are properly matted and framed. It really adds a lot to the artwork.
