Rubberslug site wasn't created until much more recently as I used to run a website through geocities.
I began collecting because I met a friend through her Sailor Moon website who had a cel of my favorite character Cooan. When I did a little cel-searching online I discovered the perfect cel of Cooan for sale by a private collector and she became my first cel ^.^ Since then my cel interests have varied, yet I have always collected from my foremost favorite character. With few funds available, I have collected only what I could really not afford! ^_~

I got this 'new fangled' thing called a com-pu-ter on June 1st 2003 -- three days later I discovered 'painted plastic' on line.......Inuyasha, in particular --
I was in love with the new show Adult Swim had on on Saturday nights at 11:00 (or 11:30??) and was googling "All Things Inuyasha" -- couldn't peel me away from the computer
And my pocketbook is history...*ahem* I mean--> 'and the rest is history'

Hmmmm ...
I've been collecting for about ... two years. Well, probably a bit longer than that, but not quite two and a half, I don't think. I believe I started "seriously" collecting in Feb/March of 2004. I put up my RS gallery in April of 2004, and I began acquiring cels a month or two prior to that.
In some ways, it's hard to believe I haven't been in this nutty hobby for longer, considering how it quickly became MY LIFE. o.o *is skeered* Although my collection is pretty small compared to lots of Beta galleries, I'm still pretty surprised at how quickly it grew.
I only planned on buying " a couple" of cels. Heh. Famous last words.
I actually got my very first cel as a gift from my hubby, around October of 2002 or 2003. It was a Kenshin cel, and he got it for me for our anniversary, because he thought it was neat. I thought it was neat, too. A month later, I purchased my very first cel on my own (a very cheap Mikagami cel off of ebay, which, oddly enough, was also my first-ever ebay purchase.
I think it cost around $20, including shipping from Canada! LOL). But, I didn't buy anything else for a while. I was more into other anime stuff, like building up my dvd collection, etc. I had always thought I would collect cels at some point. It was just a factor of waiting for "the right time". *shrug* (Sadly, I'm still not sure if this is "the right time" ... but here I am, so ... *ahem*
)

I'm not sure where to start counting from.
I got my first cel about 9-10 years ago (not sure exactly) as a freebie. I did a lot of looking around but didn't start collecting seriously until about 7 years ago.
Like someone else said, there was no rubberslug back then, so I ended up creating a gallery on my own. It has gone through a number of revisions, but is still in the same spot. I never have gotten around to using rubberslug. It's easier to keep what I have now than move everything over there.

eep, I feel old. I started August 1997. It'll be 9 years this year!
I'm not actively collecting, but I'm still around. If I see my dream cel pop up, expect me to pounce with a vengeance! Until then, I'll be an old fart and sit in my rocking chair watching all the youngin's play.
