Amen. Goes back to the "too many cooks spoils the broth."

I had heard that the Japanese directors often come over and help with the voice actor selection and the voice direction. It made me cringe and tear up when I found out that the Japanese director for One Piece handled the voice actors for the English versions. How could he pick voices that butcher it so? But maybe they choose certain voices because English voices can sound a way that the Japanese can't and vice versa. Maybe that intrigues them a little to see how different sounds can affect a voice and a character.

And I'm with DT's comment. You should hear the East Texans butcher a language. X|

I'm actually glad he says "Believe it." so much. Now the people watching the dub can share in the pain I experience listening him say "dattebayo" all the time in the sub.

Why IS it that these people can't just listen to an episode of the show to learn how the name is supposed to sound?? If we all can do it, why can't professional voice actors?

It just always ends up in the "things that make you go HMMM" category to me.
