Hmmm... I think it has been around 5 years. It all started with the mistake of picking up a Rayearth cel intending to collect one cel of each character. Soon upgrading kicked in, and wouldn't yah know it backgrounds, sketches and the like had to come as well. So here I am hundreds of cels later.

July 15, 2000 ... got my first CCS cel off eBay.

February 15, 2001 ... got my first cel book (up to then I'd just kept them in the envelopes they came in).

May 12, 2002 ... got my second cel book because the first one had filled up.

Now ... at last count ... 17 cel books.

It's been 8 years. I don't see me quitting anytime soon, unless there aren't anymore cels, rilezu, original production sketches available at all.
I'm still on the search for my #1 Holy grail, till then I keep going.
If I get my #1 holy grail I will retire from cel collecting.

Four years this month. I was cruising ebay one night for DBZ stuff and I came across a Vegeta cel. It's been downhill ever since.

...This makes me and my "I'm on cel book #3?!" paranoia seem rather trivial. ^_^

I started in June 2003. I poked my nose around on YJ and saw a huge bunch of Mistress 9 and Hotaru cels. I thought it would be nifty to own a piece of my favorite show. The cels went really high and I went after the cheapest amongst them, Mistress 9 fighting Hotaru for control of the body. I remember telling myself that $200 for a cel was crazy for a piece of painted plastic...and within the next week, I had purchased two other cels, one of Lead Crow on E-bay and the other of Nehelenia from Usagi's House.

After that, it was two cheap cels of Rei w/ ofuda and Peruru from the SuperS movie from YJ...both of which I purchased while at law enforcement academy.

In 2005, while doing a search on cels, I discovered Rubberslug and immediately set up an account there. And then I kissed my bank account goodbye.

Started Octobter 2004 with a great DBZ SSJ2 Gohan cel from E-bay. Poked around the internet to find some more DBZ cels and ran into Rubberslug and Anime-Beta in the process. After looking at some galleries and realizing how much artwork was actually out there, I picked a few series to watch based on some of the cels I had seen in others' galleries. Fast forward to today and I've now got a much better understanding/appreciation of cels, anime, and artwork. Still enjoying the hobby and plan to stay for awhile ^_^

March 19, 2002 with a cel purchased from one of our own Betarians. Still have it, but back then I was going to decorate the game room. Never framed anything. Five or six hundred items later :?

You show some real constriant there, Kata. If I found my holy grail I'd be on the search for the next one :^^:

Don't think I could ever be satisfied unless I have several hankens from each of the main series I collect. It ain't gonna happen so I'll never be satisfied.

You might want to ask Kata what her #1 Holy Grail is first :crackup

The implication is, she'll never find it and thus have to keep collecting.

It was a promise I made to myself and my husband in 2000, that if I find it I will be done. Of course I wont leave my friends that are collecting, but I wont collect cels anymore myself.
My #1 Holy grail I don't see showing up anytime soon, unless a miracle happens, it shows up and ends up in my collection right away.

If Kata leaves, then I'm leaving! *clings to Kata*
Nah, I'll be around for a long time, at least, that's what I'm hoping hehehe. :) I doubt I'll be able to collect every cel I want, but it's worth a shot! :D

Heheh, I'm just saying, you won't quit collecting any time soon. It'd be a
very tough cel to get. But I wish you luck! :P
