Karas

Post by miz ducky »

Well I posted a couple questions before about whether there were sketches to be found for this show, but now I want to start a general discussion about the show.

I feel like I understand it pretty well and have answered questions about it for a couple people I know.

I think it's really easy to miss some of the fine details, but I've had a few "OH WOW" moments when ReWatching it.
At the beginning the 2 Karas are fighting Eko kills the other Karas. It shows a scene where Otoha is being brought into surgery (the fansub says that he had a gunshot wound). When the other Karas dies we see HIS BODY in the hospital has also died, then it pans over to Otoha in the hospital bed next to him and Yurine in cat form (then her boots as the detectives daughter gets taken back to the psych ward)
Did you all catch that when you watched it?

Don't know anything about this title either so I'm out ;)

For others who don't know Karas [2005, Dir/chara design: Hayama Kenji], here are links:

:: Official Japanese site

:: 3:09 trailer on YouTube

:: Ascully Review of the western DVD with info about Karas

It looks to be very entertaining but the 3D CGI style in some of the scenes puts me off- looks like computer game graphics in parts- Soul Caliber-esque.

Well for those who do enjoy some beautiful CG work. I highly recommend it.

It gives you a lot of information in a short period of time, but it IS only a 6 ep OVA so it kinda needs to.

Best Buy has Karas: The Prophecy for $14.99
Karas: The Revelation will be out 26 Sep.

I've pushed it on my little circle of friends and they have all been glued to the screen within the first few seconds.

I hope it does too! Shown in place or as an extra.

As for the spoiler info, I rented disc 1 from Netflix so I couldn't go back and watch it. :( Sorry I didn't comment on this tread sooner.

I have told my friends who like anime to watch the show also. IMHO over-all for CG they did an excellent job with the layering work with only a few noticeable exceptions.

I may purchase the discs when the second comes out. Right now my DVD money is going toward getting all the Fighting Spirit (Hajime no Ippo) discs. X|
