Huge Update and Grand Opening of my NEW RS GALLERIE! ^_^
After graduating from CalArts with my degree in Character Animation, I had a LOT of art to scan. I am planning on switching web hosts soon, so my normal Gallerie may go down-- so I finally got on the wagon and made a Rubberslug Gallerie! ^_^
I'm still a Slayers and Shamanic Princess collector, but I've got a lot of nice art from these series now, so I have gotten really picky about what I will buy from them. My new focus is on Loveless, Gargoyles and that oh-so-elusive movie, Interstella 5555!
Check out all the new art, especially the gorgeous Interstella genga sequence! Happy! Happy! #^_^#

Congrats on making a new wonderful RS gallery! ^_^
You have TONS of lovely goodies (especially AMG!)!
Can't wait to see more additions of your cels to your gallery. Congrats on graduating as well! I just graduated in May (yay C/O 2006!)!

Thanks everyone!
(Hello Kira, Vampyreshoujo and Sugarflower!) I'm so glad you all like the collection! I feel like I've been under a rock for a year!
Animation is really time-consuming and this was my final semester, so no, I haven't had much time to update or organize anything. I will be around here and there, but I'm currently working on a graphic novel, which is only slightly less taxing, so updates may be few and far between.
I'm almost happier this way though, because I do have a great love for the rough genga. There is something about the ruffs that can never quite be translated into the final product. ^_^
Question though, for anyone who feels like answering:
Glorff knows that I got my latest Loveless genga from Ebay. That was fairly public and obvious. But I'm getting quite a few feedback emails just asking me where I acquired many of the pieces in my Gallerie. I guess that's fine, except it feels a little weird to be getting all these messages that are no more than "Where did you get this, this, this, and this?"
What do you do when someone contacts you just to get your sources?
I am not wise in the ways of cel community etiquette and am unsure about this.

Yeah... #^_^# I was sad to have missed the rilezu of those cuts, but I came late to the party and I hadn't seen the show by the time they were released.glorff wrote:Looking forward to seeing your latest Loveless aquisitions now that I know where they are going

My answer would depend on:thezelgoddess wrote: What do you do when someone contacts you just to get your sources?
1. How they asked (nice or rude).
2. Where they contacted me from (eBay, my gallery, Beta, etc.).
3. How recent my sources are (maybe my sources all dried up already?).
4. How public my sources are.
5. How well I know the person and how likely I am to deal with them in the future.
6. How much more artwork I want to get from the series (if I just started collecting from it, I'm less likely to say).
7. How expensive and uncommon the artwork is (the more expensive/uncommon the art is, the less I want competition).
8. How likely I am to beat the deputies I bid against.

If my artwork came from Yahoo Japan, public sellers, etc. - sources that a lot of people know already and I've never talked to them before, I'd probably just tell them. But I'd probably not feel the need to give them an exact link however.

The harder and more exclusive the source or YJ link and the less I know them, the less I would tell them.

EDIT:
This would be an interesting topic for the "General Cel Discussion" section.

You have so many beauties in your collection, I'm not surprised that people want to know where they can buy them too.
One friend once told me that she didn't want to tell me her source because she feared that I would buy stuff that she wanted. I guess as long as you are nice about it, most people should be ok with a vague answer.
Someone contacted me about where I got all my Fruits Basket (*gasp* tell someone where They can get FB? Never!). But I did tell them to check eBay, and to join this forum because people sell things here too.

Personally, I think if you get someone asking you where you got something specific, if you got it from a private dealer, just say so. You don't have to reveal the name. If you bought them from YJ or something, then I don't see the harm in saying that either. I think just because someone asks where you got some specific art (i.e. something so rare as Interstella 5555), they may just be curious to see what is out there or what the prices are, maybe they don't actually plan on buying any. People worry too much about 'competition' in cel collecting, which I think is a little sad... If the person asking was a serious buyer of the subject in question, they would probably already have found out your source and would have already been bidding against you/competeing against you at buying things. The internet isn't so large that there are still 'secret' cel dealers that no one knows about, since this would defeat the entire purpose of someone attempting to sell their art. Thats just my $.02.thezelgoddess wrote:What do you do when someone contacts you just to get your sources?
Then again, I emailed you about the Interstella 5555 art just because I was curious, as I haven't bought a cel in years and doubt I'd be competing against anyone for any in the future....I just wanna look at pretty art.
