Australian bidders?
Australian bidders?
Did Australia just get the movie or somethin? Alot of Bloodlust cels are being won by Australian bidders as of late. (I got outbid on the two I was bidding on =/) I wish I woulda known, woulda bid more and not been so relaxed about the auctions...

Interesting. I did notice that some cels that were ending for $10 a while ago are now ending more around $30. Its still a fabulous deal considering that once upon a time you couldn't get ANYTHING, not even D's foot, for under $200. Because this is a movie, I would expect for the cels to appreciate, and when this glorious run of cheapies runs out, we'll be stuck with $600 cels once again. If there are a few australian collectors snapping stuff up now, I'd definitely recommend babysitting your auctions as they end to make sure you get what you want now. In a year or two, there won't be the opportunity. Few people realize that Vampire Hunter D was the last big hurrah for cels, ever. There will be none to match them, their detail and quality, ever again, that are original parts of the amazing film you see on the screen. Unless you really love those post-production cels, or are gaga over sketches, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust is the last cel-production film to be made anywhere in the world.
Its more than a gallery.

It's not that Australian bidders are taking over the buying as if it's a conspiracy, but it's to do with the seller's willingness to ship abroard, costs and the fact that Bloodlust is such a good movie that MORE people are bidding from all over the globe.
In my last cel sale on Ebay my winners were from Italy, France and England despite my advertising to those in the USA. You'll find that people tend to trust certain sellers more than others depending on their location and what they have to offer.
Shipping costs inevitably factor into these decisions too and I know there are differences between sellers and their prices/terms. I'm happy to buy items from most international sellers but ome I wouldn't buy from again because of their terms which adversely affected me.

Next round of Borgoff cels will be a nice little show-dont really care for any other characters with the exception of Machira and Caroline but I'll give ol' Krafty a run for his money as well as any Australian bidders that want to step up.
As far as international shipping policy goes my post office rates seem to change alot. I say $12 for International in my auctions but I check specific zip codes at the end to see if its cheaper-usually not but if it is shipping discounts are included. (That reminds me I need to send a few things out-but I hate packing, though I like going to the post office)
As far as cels go-I'd like to see some of these Australian collectors galleries. I don't like the competition but it's there so I gotta deal.

But why wait until now? Did it just recently become popular over in Australia or were they waiting for a dramatic price drop?and the fact that Bloodlust is such a good movie that MORE people are bidding from all over the globe.
Don't say things like that, there may be Walgreens around but it could still be a perfect world. The supply COULD be infinite....I would expect for the cels to appreciate, and when this glorious run of cheapies runs out, we'll be stuck with $600 cels once again.

Heh, as you know Borgoff is my fave too and I'm still on the hunt for some more so it may benefit us to stay in contact and let each other know our intentions to save a bidding war. We both have other things we can spend our money on and with some give and take on both sides, we can both by happy.Kaije wrote:Next round of Borgoff cels will be a nice little show-dont really care for any other characters with the exception of Machira and Caroline but I'll give ol' Krafty a run for his money as well as any Australian bidders that want to step up.
I'd assume that it's just coincidence that a couple or few Aussie bidders have come onto the scene now- perhaps they know each other and spead the word about the cels at the same time.Kaije wrote:Did [Bloodlust] just recently become popular over in Australia or were they waiting for a dramatic price drop?
Wow, all these Borgus lovers? I have a great one of him, like perfect front shot with the cigar, but my feelings on it are 'so-so'. I do really like it, but I'm a much bigger fan of Meier and D. If one of you wants it, lemme know an offer or something. Or trade even for another VHD cel with D or Meier.

That'd be cool, real helpful too. But know that I'm real picky-took like 20 cels from the vamp Borgoff scene to come up before I found one I wanted....shoulda bid more....Heh, as you know Borgoff is my fave too and I'm still on the hunt for some more so it may benefit us to stay in contact and let each other know our intentions to save a bidding war.
