Rilezu and repro cels: To open or not to open...?
A recent thread in the Naruto section reeeeaaaaallllyyyy got me paranoid. I have quite a few repro cels and rilezu, and I don't open the bags as I thought I remembered a post from Anime Museum saying not to, that it is bad for the cel and devalues it. But after reading Prince Vegeta's post in the Naruto thread, I'm wondering if I'm doing damage to my rilezu by leaving them in the bags.
So here is my question for all of you who have collected far longer than I have: is it better to open the bags and separate the cels and backgrounds into their own bags or leave the original bag in tact?
Thanks!

Well, I've always heard that to keep the cel completely closed causes the raction that the paint has with the bag to quicken...that's why I always open them/cut the bag to allow the cel to breath. But I am, by no means, an expert. I just know what I've heard.

personally I opened all mine and put them in seperate bags. A few of the one I have bought recently already had begun to stick to the background a tad.

all of my saiyuki repros i've seperated from the frames and put in bags.
now the two kyou kara maou rilexu i have i havent seperated because i want to sell them. otherwise i would have seperated these too.
imo, i think if you've serperated them yet know where the frame, back to the frame, and the background are wont lessen the value. but as i said that's my opinion.

I hate the way they stick to the background, so I pop them off asap.
Now the Mirage of Blaze one's I've gotten have all had a cel layer between the bottom painted layer and the background, so no worries there. But the Bleach ones have all been stuck to the backgrounds to varying degrees.
But I don't plan on selling them either.

I really want to open my rilezu
. The anal-retentive cel collector in me doesn't want to chance any sticking to backgrounds. And since I don't plan on selling the few I have....I'm going to do it.
I don't have any repros anymore, but I busted into those without a second thought on devaluing them and put plastic between cel and background.
And for the record that goes for any sealed cel - Toei stickers be damned I'm breaking in!

I don't have any rilezu, but if I were to buy one from another collector it would make me sad if it were stuck.
I don't know who says that they are more valuable if unopened, but to a degree I can understand the idea.
But we're talking about what is essentially a STUCK CEL and that's never a good thing whether it's used for production or if it was made after the fact.

Rilezu cels from madoka are made to be store as they are sold. I don't see any point in opening at and it you do you really need to keep the plastic bag with that little gold seal on it.wELCOME cONSUMER wrote:I would treat them like production cels. Separate everything and store

I'm too paranoid about things sticking together I guess.
