Why?

That is the best question you have ever asked, Cloud.

That was hilarious Tabbykitty.

We saw it yesterday, thought it was so funny. It's a total cheese ball
popcorn movie. It's a lot of fun, I loved it!

It looked like a stupid movie, so I didn't even bother to go see it. I heard it was so stupid people were laughing all throughout the movie, so I'm happy I didn't waste my money to see it. :P to you WelcomeConsumer. ;)

:P back!

It's not supposed to be a serious movie, obviously. Just look at the scenario!
But the deaths were over the top violent, there were tons of jokes and it
was a lot of fun. I imagine it'll be a cult classic.

Great drinking game movie too, just drink everytime someone gets bitten by
a snake :rollin

Not every movie has to be ground breaking and intelligent. Sometimes you
just need an escape from reality and this movie is a fun roller coaster ride.

THAT'S why I won't see this movie. Not the cheesy premise, the over the top deaths, or the jokes. It is the fact that they are trying to manufacture a cult classic! They used internet hype, teaser trailers, and a media blitz to make this an instant cult classic. That just doesn't sit right. To me, a cult classic has to earn its stripes. It has to go relatively unnoticed in the theatres. It has to languish in DVD bargain bins for years. Then, it has to get rediscovered by a select group of people to become a hit. Boondock Saints, The Way of the Gun, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Donnie Darko, Pink Flamingos, The Story of Ricky! That is cult cinema. If you want real Samuel L. Jackson cult cinema, check out Def By Temptation or True Romance! Here is a clip from one of my favorite cult martial arts films, The Crippled Masters!

And you say I take my movies too seriously? :P

It's like Evil Dead or any other piece of crap low budget movie. They did
rely on pointless internet hype, but it does deserve that much. It's a fun
movie. Like I said, not every feature has to be groundbreaking or intelligent.
Donnie Darko is not on the same level as Evil Dead. Different kind of cult classic.
True Romance is a film of a different caliber completely. You're saying that
all cult classics have to be these undiscovered masterpieces and they don't.
Each film generates a different kind of fanbase and following. Snakes on a Plane
did badly at the box office, so I think it's well on its way to "cult classic" status, hehe.

Kevin Smith tried to manufactor Clerks 2 into a cult classic. Because who
else is gonna see it, honestly? All movies get different kinds of media pushes.
Snakes on a Plane never lied about what it was or what it was about. I think
the marketing was clever, especially the Sam Jackson phone call service.

I thought that was a decent film too, the armless man and the legless man did some cool moves.
My fave Martial arts films are Project A and Buddhist Fist

If you can call it 'cult' [it was a staple of HK cinema in its time], my fave is the Heroic Bloodshed masterpiece A Better Tomorrow, for its themes of loyalty, honour and the amazing gunplay.

I haven’t seen Snakes on a Plane (I'll wait for the DVD).
But hasn’t this instant cult classic thing been done before? I don't like it but Tarantino's Kill Bill was manufactured to be, and was praised by the critics as, an instant cult classic. Why shouldn’t the same thing work for Snakes on a Plane?

I’ll let my cel gallery speak for my love of cheesy action. :D

I hate the “we all know this is going to be dumb but it’s going to kickass” attitude. After a while stating the obvious becomes boring. For cheesy action fun I preferred Domino.
