*chuckle* Are you sure you want to understand? See what happens when you do? ^

There are several levels of Ooo, pretty!

1 - Ooo pretty! (means hey, that's nice, I like that... if I'm incredibly bored and have money burning a hole in my pocket, I might buy it)

2 - Heeeeey! *accompanied by a second or third look* (something that catches my eye, makes me look a few times, check out the price, decide it's too expensive, or just not "nice" enough or "pretty" enough to bother with)

3 - Oooooooo! *accompanied by a quick look at the price to see if it's affordable* (something that is better than "pretty" or "nice", moving into the realm of "hot", "sexy", or just gets my heart racing) I'm seriously thinking about buying this if it's anywhere near affordable.

4 - Holy Crap! *a quick look at the price, a little less than caring about whether it's affordable or not - more to see if there's enough in the account to get it* (this would be something that really is beautiful in my eyes. Something that gets my pulse pounding and my buying finger itching)

5 - MINE! *not even a GLANCE at the price. at this point I don't care* (this would be something that has surpassed beautiful and gone on to gorgeous. It's definitely got my heart pumping, my breath getting shorter, and I'm digging through my husband's pockets for more money. This would be a MUST HAVE. It's something that just makes me speechless it's so perfect.)

Alternate categories:
There are those that are my favorite character, but maybe their eyes are closed, they look ugly, are half off the cel, etc. I don't usually mess with those.

There are those that are characters that I don't even know anything about, but if it's just an incredibly beautiful character, or an incredibly beautiful look/emotion, or just a beautiful scene, I'll buy it if it's within what I'm willing to pay for it.

"Grabs me" = grabs my attention, grabs my heart, grabs my instant love, and ultimately grabs my money.
(guess I could have just said that to begin with and left off all that ramble. sorrrreeeee!)

...I like it when they grab me *snicker* (*snort*! "innocent"???? :dlook )

Naw, I meant a favorite character looking ugly, or less than stellar.

And "ugly" is in the eye of the beholder as much as "beautiful". It's all realtive.

choice

Post by ginga123 »

i am very picky about the artwork i choose to purchase and display in my gallery. not only do i have a budget; but, i also choose to collect certain characters that interest me the most from a series.

my two obvious favorites are Sailor Moon and Hotaru in all shapes and forms. i also like a few other characters as well--such as Princess Tutu.

when i am searching for new art, I often look at the quality of handiwork of the piece in addition to price. most often, i am search for artwork that makes a "connection" between my psyche and evokes some sort of emotion within me through color, motion, or depth.

if i don't "fall in love with it"--i am not likely to pursue it or keep it for long. :)

i hope this bit of info helps you when your picking art [btw].

It has to do with your chakras. Each type of anime character resonates with a different chakra, which are energy centers that you feel along the midpoint of your body from the "third eye" on your forehead to the place about an inch behind your pubic area. (No, not the erogenous zones, ya perverts, the energy centers behind them that feed juice to them.)

Good CCS cels arouse my thymic chakra: they make me hold my breath and let it out slowly. Nice MKR cels, by contrast, always get me by the solar plexus, about three inches above the pubic area: they make me feel like I've been punched and have to catch my breath. I think that's because CCS is very yingy and MKR yangy.

I opted for #3: if it doesn't zing me somehow, it could be an incredible rarity and bargain, but I won't go for it. Yes, how much money I have in my pocket has a lot to do with what I buy, as does whether I already have a cel of that character or scene. But in the end, it's all about Chi, orgone, Moxie, whatever you want to call it.

Just my 50 yen.

i voted " buy what I like the look of". i am extremely picky, since the series i collect are pricey these days. so ive built up some standards and a wishlist. it took me a long time to make wishes... 8)
