New 'puter
After searching and searching for the right fit, I finally settled on a computer. My old laptop has served me well, but after four years it is time to upgrade. Here are my old computer specs...

20GB HD
15" TFT Screen
512MB RAM
8xDVD/24xCDRW
No Wireless
3.5" Floppy
2 USB 1.0 ports
My new compy will be...
Alienware Sentia m3450 - $2500
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7600 2.33GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB
Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 with Service Pack 2 - With Media Center Remote Control
Alienware® Sentia m3450 with 14" WideXGA 1280 x 768 LCD with Webcam - Xeno Grey

8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24X CD-RW Combo w/Software

I am really excited about my new toy. My old laptop is just getting too slow to do the things I want.
So, does anyone out there have their eye on a new computer in the future?

Cool
I just bought a laptop and a new heavy duty desk top computer.
I wanted to have a laptop as small as possible. So I bought a thinkpad IBM with
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7600 2.33GHz 4MB Cache 667MHz FSB and it has weight only 3lb
Also: Microsoft Windows XP Professional,
100 GB 7200 rpm SATA Hard Drive,
ThinkPad CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo II Ultrabay Slim Drive (with Flat Bezel),
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Mini-PCI Express Adapter,
and it costed $2,398.00.....
My desk top is industrial monster (and I named it "kittens"
) It has:
1st proc: Intel® Core™ Xeon Processor 5 160 3GHz 4MB 3.00 GHz
2nd proc: Intel® Core™ Xeon Processor 5 160 3GHz 4MB 3.00 GHz
(I have basically 4 processors).
Memory: 16GB DDR2 SDRAM FBD memory 533 MHz ECC (8DIMMS)
19 inchi flat screen ULTRA SHARP 1907 FP Flat panel
It costed me $6,808.....
I do need this monster kittens for my reseach.... so it is sooooo worth it
Actually this computer creates so much heat (since it is meant to be a server....) so my office is really hot
But I love this baby
I all installed my be-loved linux red hat

That IS a monster. Wow! Awesome setup. I was looking at the IBM as well. Those things are so light and well made. There were just a few things about the AW laptop that I liked better. I agree about small laptops. I had a friend buy a 19" laptop that weighs 15lbs. Why not just buy a desktop?

Yeah it is
I love my computer
BTW, it is dell Precision workstation
I think if you are buying a huge laptop I would buy a big desk-top since lap-top is not really expandable, but with a desk-top you can expand as much as you can
(and also it is less costly as well...)

2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Congrats to both of you for getting brand-spanking new computers!
I built my latest computer and I'm about in the starting process of my fiance's computer. I built mine back in 2003 but has been upgraded since to make it up to my standards for today.
Here are a few specs on my baby:
- AMD 64 Athlon 3700 2.2GHz
- 512 MB RAM - about to be upgraded to 1 GB
- 2 Western Digital 160 GB Hard Drives 8 MB cache - may be upgraded to 1 terabyte
- Video card - Radeon 9800 PRO 128MB
- and my case is silver with multi-colored fans (total of 4) to keep my baby from overheating

Well, the new toy arrived yesterday, and I can't stop playing with it. It is sooo fast! You don't realize how obsolete a previous computer was until you get a new one. It's really light, too. I felt like I was gonna break it. But it is also very sturdy. I went out last night an got a new wireless notebook mouse and pad for it. I also downloaded Firefox, since Krafty is always raving about it. I must say, it is a very cool browser. I also bought a wireless router and set it up in my apartment. It is awesome! I got my firewall dialed in, so no one can hijack my signal. They might be able to get a hotspot from me, but they won't be able to get any info(unless they are major hackers, which is unlikely in my apartment complex). I love taking my laptop all over the house and playing with it! Fun!

Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.
