Sequence mates

Post by majinuub »

Does anyone here collect sequence mates(individually or grouped)? If you do, would you be willing to sell one of them if someone had asked?

As for me, owning 2+ cels from a certain part of a show is ok, but I wouldn't mind selling a partner cel to someone especially if it's a wishlist one. Though I must admit, I have 2-3 cels from the same sequence that were bought as a group and I never intend to sell them .

I have a few like that, but most of them (75-80%) I didn't intend on having. The great majority of the time I bought the second because I liked it better than the first. If I had my choice I would have only gotten the second one.

In the other 20-25% cases, I bought the second one because it offered a slightly different take on the first. It was a "different view" on a cel that I already liked.

I might sell the first cel I got from the first group I mentioned, but I'm unlikely to sell either cel from the second group. In the only other case I can think of, I bought a couple of cheap Tohru-Miko Elf Kakyuusei OVA cels as add ons to a cel order I already had going. I'm not attached to either of those cels. Frankly I'd sell either one because I don't think I should have bought them. :(

I have several, since available Kenshin OVA cels are coming from very similar scenes, unfortunately.....

I do not sell them even though I have cel mates :) (I usually do not want to sell them even though they are non-Kenshin cel :) )

I only buy sequence mates if they are incredibly cheap, normally.

There are about 4 VHD sequence mates in my collection, but those are a
special case. I felt that each cel had a distinct feel to it, which is the only
reason why I'd buy more than one cel from the same scene.

Generally, tho, I like to avoid sequence mates because I feel that if I save
my money, I can afford something which contrasts cels that I already own.
I strive for diversity whenever possible.

If I had an entire sequence I would be reluctant to break it up, but, otherwise, I generally have no trouble parting with a sequence mate........ Having said that though, I almost never sell them. I usually pick up sequence mates with the intention of trading.

My goal is to have "the" entire sequence from Seisouhen so that I can make a movie by flipping all cels :dwink :dgrin Mwhahahahaha

Well I usually get sequence mates to make up a “panel” like a comic strip.

As an example, the three cels in the second row on this page:

http://mamorinuku.rubberslug.com/galler ... 335&Page=5

where InuYasha comes to a screeching halt with Tessaiga raised, looks up surprised and then turns his head; a little humorous characteristic moment. :D

Or the two cels on the second row here:

http://mamorinuku.rubberslug.com/galler ... 344&Page=2

where Kagome and InuYasha shyly look at each other, then quickly turn away in embarrassment.

Sometimes I get it wrong though, like the two injured Xelloss cels on the third row here:

http://mamorinuku.rubberslug.com/galler ... esID=21321

I thought they would be further apart, with some sense of movement, but they turned out to be right next to each other, A-6 to A-7. Oopsie! :emb

I have sequence mates from Hunter x Hunter. 2 different ones. One of Killua in the dungeon and the other of Gon with wet hair. Actually I have more from each sequence coming soon. There's no way I'd sell them. My goal is to get the entire sequence of each.

I have a few sequence mates, but I have various reasons as to why I have them.

Sometimes I want a better shot than the one I already have, so when another one comes along that I like, I bid on it and now I have 2 (or more). Generally I wind up selling those that I was replacing, so I don't mind since I only wanted a better shot from the group.

Now there are a few scenes where I have doubles (or triples) from because I absolutely either love the sequence, love the character in that scene, or want different views/perspectives of the character(s) even though they are from the same sequence. These are cels that I don't plan on selling because of that reason.

Ouch. Get her!

But to answer the question I pretty much agree with everyone else. I would generally sell them unless I specifically bought them because they were different enough.
