Boy, does that sound icky or what. :O Hopefully, everything will work out alright. Good luck with the retirement home search, too. :)

Sounds like you took it like a man. Good luck on the retirement home btw :D
Given Perv-chan's temporary absence from all things internet while she moves, I feel it only right that I should point out

HOW MANY EXTREMELY WRONG WAYS THOSE TWO STATEMENTS COULD BE TAKEN!!

Thanks, all for hugs and expressions of support (not to mention perverted comments which are also good for the soul).

Just a clarification about "retirement home." That's just the house where we're going to live, my wife soon, me a little later. The term suggests one of those gross "assisted living complexes" where people have wheelchair races, solitare marathons, and banana-eating contests when they're not watching QVC or Fox News. We're hoping to have a retirement a little more active than that.

One area we in fact decided to avoid was "The Parke" where a lot of the chores are done for residents by "The Association": lawns mowed, snow shoveled, gutters cleaned of the pine needles that are falling all the time. Problem is that these places come with lots of restrictions too: no gardening, no boats parked in the driveway, no patio furniture on the lawn, no J-pop on the boom box, etc. We'll probably get a house that's not patrolled by The Association where we can hang some clothes outside to dry once in a while. (For some reason Associations in various parts of the country go :bubbles :kaioken :bubbles bananas when people make to do this.)

With all the really serious health and hardship issues being discussed earlier this week, I didn't think it was appropriate for me to pop up and say this but ... to finish off "Part One," yes, the cardiac report was textbook normal. Also, blood pressure good, cholesterol good, weight down not enough but at least down not up, all signs look good for the next step.

Only new wrinkle: after the coloscopy I'm being sent in to a sleep lab for observation. I've developed sleep apnea (where you stop breathing in your sleep for awhile), severely enough that it wakes me up. While I don't have the nasty form of it where you fall asleep suddenly during the day (I evidently communicate this to my students) he wants it checked out.

Otherwise, it looks like I'll be collecting for a while longer...

If the proctologist gives me photos like she did my wife when she had hers, I'll be happy to put them up in the Beta gallery.

I think about this stuff more as I head to the big 3-0. I get a check up twice a year. I've done the wonderful prostate exam(I didn't cry, but my head leaned forward insinctively and hit the wall). Blood tests. You see, I don't drink very much(only on the weekends, and rarely to excess). I've never smoked. Never done drugs. My only problem is that I eat too much. Interesting thing is, I eat good, healthy foods. I rarely eat out or order in(I do crave the occasional pizza). But I simply eat too much healthy food. So, while I do carry around a lot of weight, my cholesterol is usually around 155, and my BP is around 135/80. Still, this weight is going to come off. I don't want to reach 60 and develop arthritis due to my joints being thrashed. I feel for women, because they have even more things to worry about at 30. Ugh. At least I don't LOOK 30.
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.
