Jeebus....does this look right to you?

Post by Maiko »

http://cgi.ebay.com/InuYasha-Inu-Yasha- ... dZViewItem

Whew! Cels from this sequence typically sold for anywhere between $300 to $500 over the years, but this current price? I know the Inu Yasha cel market has been kind over the top lately, but this seems almost unrealistic. I noticed that one of the bidders bidding this up so high has only 2 feedback, both positive apparently, but has their feedback listed as "private". It seems a bit odd to me that they would have such limited feedback and want to hide it, especially if it's positive. But then, this ID has existed on ebay since 2004 and has had a total of only 3 transactions. For someone who apparently hardly uses ebay, why come out of the blue and just start bidding thousands on an Inu Yasha cel all of a sudden?

I really hope this isn't a shill bidding ID or something. :? That's all us IY collectors need right now- is someone to just drive the prices up even higher.

Yeah, that guy has me worried too. For all those reasons. But I guess we'll find out when it ends. As the seller I'm thrilled, as an IY collector I'm seriously bummed. This doesn't bode well for the future.

Very little about the Inuyasha market surprises me these days. I've resigned myself to the fact that I can either collect Inuyasha or send my kids to college, not both. X|

I'm not sure if I was clear in my post about it or not- but I was not insinuating that you were the possible "shill bidder" as the seller, just to make your auction go for more ^_^x I meant that I was hoping it wasn't someone who was doing it to the other bidder on purpose out of spite or something, just to force them to pay a higher price. Plus, if that is the case, I'd hate to see them accidently end up outbidding the other bidder and winning, just to pull a bid retraction or something, which then inconveniences you, the seller.

I know that bidder, and personally - they are a very nice
person to deal with. If they are bidding this much on
that cel, then their must be a darn good reason for it. :o

As for the person who is bidding against them, she will
pay if she wins - may take a month or two, but she will
pay eventually. I know she really wants the cel, cause
this is what she told me:

I have been looking for one
of him in his demon form forever, but everytime I found one and checked somebody
already got him. Did not think he would get that high, I seen him for sale in her
shop, should have just got him then but I could not make my mind up, then when I
finely did he was on ebay so I thought I could get him cheaper on ebay but was I
wrong, hahaha. She is nice seller and she has a nice collection to. Hope I get him,
then I will be done for a while cause I will have a Sesshomaru and a Youkai Inuyasha
and those were the main ones I really, really wanted
Way to go Kagejin - looks like you hit the jackpot on this one!!

:OMG Holy crap that's freaking nuts!!!

I must say though that I'm jealous of you, Kagejin. I wish that I had a youkai to sell so I could attract the crazies as well.

I'm glad to hear it's all legit, then, and one of those great instances where a seller really makes their money back on a purchase and then some, and someone gets what they really want ( at least, I would hope they would really want it, if they are willing to pay those prices ^_~x )

Sorry I brought it up at all- I was just a bit worried since I once, as a seller, had to deal with a shill-bidding situation where the person was bidding against my highest bidder out of spite, and then won the item by accident, backed out of the transaction, and when I turned around and offered it to the original high bidder at their last highest bid, they turned it down, because since they had 'lost' the auction, they had spent their money elsewhere.

But anyway, that's not happening here, and I hope none of the parties involved take any offense.

( Actually, it kind of makes me wonder if I should post my youkai Inu Yashas on ebay now, LOL ^_~x )

I guess I am lucky then, because at this point, I can make the choice to either dedicate my life to collecting Inu Yasha, or decide I want to have kids. LOL. It's a real toss-up at the moment...

*sigh*

Why do I never get the run-away auctions when I'm selling?

I saw this auction yesterday. Congrats on what looks like a mighty profit! :) I'm just so happy I've never wanted a youki Inuyasha.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!

Hi maiko! And no I didn't take offense. I have seen that happen in the past and I appreciate the concern.

And thanks to you Nida! I chat with Trisha often so I know she's serious, etc. But that you know that other bidder has eased my mind a bit.

Actually I'm hoping it doesn't go any higher, for Trisha's sake.

As for crazies, generally I attract other kinds, LOL.

Yet another reason why I don't collect Inuyasha . . . 8O

That much money could feed a college student for an entire year! 8O Well . . . I guess that depends on the consumption rate of pizza. :P

EEEEE!!

*tacklegloms Kagejin*

This is one time I'm so, so happy to see an auction end at such a high price. It's about time you had some stellar luck in selling one of your cels. No one deserves the good fortune more than you!!

Congrats on a wonderful ending to your auction!

*hugs more*

...

And, yes ... this also reminds me why I no longer collect IY -- and why the ones I have will stay with me for the duration. They have just become too precious, especially since I feel I would never be able to replace them.

...

Congrats again, Kagejin! :jump

Thanks all! *Hugs*. Probably means my luck with selling is toast for the rest of the year, LOL.
