Framing Cels.... *needs help* lol

Hello!
I have seen many people with pictures of their cels up on their wall. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on framing cels(or send me to a website that can explain this to me... >_<). I want to buy a repro Bleach or Naruto cel or a inuyasha cel for my b/f for this birthday(or christmas lol). I didn't know if there was a certain type of class or ways you should frame a cel to prevent damage to it... I know NOTHING about framing(especially nothing about framing cels.. haha).

I think you just need UV Glass for cels...

but really you still need to put it in a dim area because Light tears up the color in anything if you shine light on it for any amount of time.

So even UV glass isn't fool proof... it only helps a little!

*ahem* Don't listen to me. <.< I'm evil.
I have framed all three of my Bleach repro cels in just nice K-Mart (because that's what I could get to in Guam) frames.
They hung up on my wall at work for a while, but I did rotate them out.
And I do keep them from bright or direct sunlight.
But, that having been said, the repros have not faded in the least over several months.
Rilezu, in my experience, have all held up amazingly well in basic KMart frames, even with the flourescent lights. My Mirage of Blaze has been in the same cheap-o frame forever, and shows no signs of fading yet (had it two years now).

NOW the same cannot be said for real cels!
I had my first cel framed professionally, but without any special glass (various reasons, ignorance being one of them), and in two years, major line fading has happened.
But yes, I still love it. ~_^

So basically, I guess I'm saying, if it's a repro, be nice to it. If it's a rilezu, don't worry at all.
But if it's a real cel, take good care of it, get special glass, or get a coating to go on regular glass. Whatever.

OH, and I found out (the hard way... always the hard way for me...) that sketches don't fade much, but the markings may! I had an Ichigo up on the wall at work in a basic frame under regular flourescents, and Ichigo was fine, but afer a month or so, the pink pen notes had seriously faded! So beware of that too.

Not only should you use UV glass, but you should also use acid-free mats between both the glass and cel AND between cel and backing. And acid free backing as well. And acid-free tape to catch the corners of the cel against the mat (as little as possible).

Yes, it doesn't prevent fading, only helps. I have two pan cels from Bubblegum Crisis 2040 and a major Zelgadis cel framed. After a year or so in my office the two BGC cels were looking darn faded. And Zel started out a bit faded, and was hung down here in the Anime Dungeon where only the occasional ray of sunshine gets in, but even he got some damage. Now they're all on a wall that faces away from the window altogether ... the only safer place would be back in the cel book, but I can't bear that.

I printed this out and took it to the local art supply shop. I asked my most favorite framer if he had ever framed animation cels. He said no and so I gave him this and he did a most excellent job!

I have not framed my cels quite yet but I have heard that UV treated plexi glass would be nice because it wouldn't shatter in the event of the cel falling off the wall. Nothing more depressing than a shredded cel! I am not sure if there are any setbacks to using plexiglass though, if there are I would like to know before I do any framing!
