So, any other non-gamers here?

Post by blueheaven »

Don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with folks who RPG or play online. This is not a slight against anyone else. I have just never been into the whole gaming thing. I don't play card games, nor am I a fan of WOW or EQ. Am I the only one? I owned a PS2 once, a couple years ago, and sold it. So, any other non-gamers out there?

Over here!

I never played any RPG or online game, and I realy mean never :)
Everytime I play a game I'm getting bored after like some hours, and then I never play it again.
The only game I ever played complete is FarCry... :)

So you could say I'm not a gamer (ohh but I like games like tekken, mortal combat,...) ;)

Sold my original Sega way back in the early nineties and haven't jumped back on the gaming console scene since. I loved RPGs when I was younger, but I'm hesitant to commit the time it will take nowadays with WOW, EQ, etc. I guess just too much other stuff going on.

That is a good album by John Lennon!

As for RPG, never got into them. This eats up enough of my free time. And I don't want to look like the boys from South Park as they did in the last episode! :D

:D That's what prompted this question. I really can imagine folks out there, mouth-breathers, playing this game 24/7 untill they look like those boys. "MOM! BATHROOM!" I was blown away by that episode, and all the game terminology.

i play video games once in a while, though my PS2 is 90% a dvd player and 10% for games.... i'm excited for the Wii, b/c its different. but games like WoW... I could never get into. the cost of playing, 50 just to buy the game then 15/month just to play online???

And what i've seen it do to friends. (no they don't end up like the South Park boys) but what it did to their personalities, and such was just frightening... WoW, kinda took a fun person and drained all the life from them, as well as made them incredibly hateful of everything not WoW. *shiver*

The Doctor : … and then, just to finish off, I’m going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky !
Dalek : But you have no weapons ! No defenses ! No plan !
The Doctor : Yeah ! And doesn’t that scare you to death ?

I'm a non-video-gamer... This will sound incredibly dumb, but I find that the repetition of the background music and the frequency of screaming, grunting and other sounds of violence make me crazy(er). They just annoy the living snot out of me.

I *used* to spend lots of time online gaming, but I actually prefer text-based games where the visuals depend on your own imagination. (Yeah, I'm a dino. Sue me :P ). I also have a lot less free time than I used to.

I grew up in a board-game and card-game crazy home, and now I tend to associate those types of games with endless holiday weekends in enforced attendance at the table. Sometimes it was fun, but... sometimes you'd just as soon go draw or read a book or something, you know? ;) so I am not wildly excited about any games these days.

What is it like growing up there? A board-game and card-game crazy home and now I tend to associate those types of games with endless holiday weekends in enforced attendance at the table? How did you get there?

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

My husband enjoys games. He just got the X-box 360, and it's fun to watch him play some of the games (Star Wars lego-style is a hoot), but I don't like to play them myself.

I did play one called Entombed that never came out with the sequel they promised. X| And I played the first two MYST games. But other than that? If it involves platforms/shoot-em-ups/etc... forget it. I'd rather read a book.

Oh, and I enjoyed the Discworld game years and years ago. :D
And the old King's Quest.

I guess I enjoy games where you don't have to spend all your time either on the offensive or defensive. I just want to relax. :)

Me too! The guys at South Park, like the folks at The Simpsons just keep coming up with great episodes.

As for board-games/card-games I must admit I'm addicted to Sequence. My friends and I can spend hours long into the night playing it. X|
