Great idea. I would love to have a place to go to see all the previous years winners as well. I know most ppl have them posted in their galleries, but one big place to go see them all would be nice.darksuzaku wrote:I'm all for it. I'm not sure if i'll participate this year but i'll definitely be there to place my vote.

How fun! I would love to see this. I don't know if I will go in or not....I really hate to lose
But I will be there to place my votes. Maybe if I can get some more cels in soon I might think about participating.

About having a display in RS for the winners, would that include winners from past years?
Either way, I'm extremely busy this year and it was only tonight that I remembered about the contest so I won't be much help this year I'm afraid but I'm willing to hear things out and give opinions if needed. I might enter entries but I might not because I'm not sure I have any good enough to display this year.

My cat Temperance I call her Tempe for short.

My cat Seeley is a Sailor Moon fan, too!
I didn't anticipate on having a black female cat and a white male cat or I would have named them Luna and Artemis... oh well.

Getting started
Cool, sounds like a popular idea. If the Awards is run on the Beta Gallery hosted with RubberSlug, that'll make the designing easier, but may make the voting process disjointed because it's not linked up to the site.
We may have to go for the primitive emailing method as opposed to a voting form.
I'll have a word with Harry and Jason [RS guru] regarding the RS site and will consider the logisitics as far as the hosting/design/voting is concerned.
As I said before, if someone wants to stand up and take this project on, go ahead. I don't want to hog it since I've had my go and with the foundation from the last 2 years, it won't be too involved for anyone to pick up.
I suggest 3 people are needed to work on the project and the work can be split into these areas-
Organisation & site design [communicating with team members throughout the project, time management, getting the site to work LOL];
Graphics construction [Thumbnails for the cels/genga, category icons, trophies];
Vote counting [Setting up an email address for the voting, collating the votes to discover the winners].
There are tasks that crossover into each area, e.g. the Vote Counter may find it best to handle submissions and make the graphics for them. The Graphics person may find it easiest to do some of the organisation...
The offers of help on this thread are great, if people write on this thread what areas they'd like to work on, I could select a team.
If anyone wants to PM or email me to discuss things, feel free.
This stage needs to be complete by the end of Thursday 19th October [USA time]

What we need to sort out initially is the format of this year's Awards. That should be discussed here.
Based on last year's event, should the categories change?
Bear in mind that we need to have the same number of categories, or less- NO MORE than 22 because they don't all get filled up and the work load can get heavier.
The category headings could change to something completely different.
I'd be happy to see the sexual categories go, what do you think?
We've had suggestions of fancels, any more that would be viable?
Should the general rules also change?
One area of contention was the entry of genga/douga artwork. Should such production art be permitted in EVERY category or kept to its own specialised category?

I have always said there needs to be a FAN CEL category. This is a vaild collecting point and always has been. Especially since some amazing pieces have been popping up on Y!J recently. This NEEDS To be its own category this year. FAN CELS ONLY. Non fan art. Unless the general concencus wants a seperat FAN ART category. But I'm trying to keep this cel related.
I for one would like to keep the sexual categories. You'd have to keep yaoi and hentai seperate b/c ppl who don't like yaoi wouldn't vote for anything related to it in a merged category...Giving hentai an unfair advantage, and vice versa. Also, Yuri should probably be put in the hentai slot, b/c of the same reason above. A lot of ppl don't like guys screwing or loving each other. Hence, unfair advantage towards Yuri.
I'd also like it if we could enter in things we've previously entered. BUT! ONLY IF IT HASN'T WON.
We have a lot of ppl who are new and might not have seen certain artwork from the previous years. We also have ppl who don't collect enough to come up with something new every year. Being able to re-insert things for voting that hasn't previously won would be nice. But, we could leave that up to the submitters themselves. Explain that entering in fresh artwork would be great ot keep variety alive, but not to exclude certain people, you can re-submit something you have previously, but something that hasn't won.
I hope all of that was clear enough.
