(4) Are *any* types of sketches okay, or just genga/douga? I have a few shuusei that I'm considering for entry, which is why I ask.
As the rules state, both genga and douga are accepted

Humm Thats a good question ~_~.. I dont think so because if its rough then it is a genga. Douga are the clean looking ones.. Sorry I couldn't answer your question... Never heard of shuusei..

Thanks to Keys, here ya go:
Shuusei is the term for pre-production 'clean up' sketches. Basically, they are the step between the genga and the douga, where the sankuga kantoku, animation correction director/supervisor, goes through and makes change suggestions to the genga such that it matches the art design of the series better. Often times these are partial (if the correction is just drawing the nose differently, sometimes it will just be a nose, some prefer to redraw the entire image for context, sometimes a full redraw touch-up is needed etc) and often they appear on colored paper.

Yes, shuusei are corrections. They're usually done on yellow/green/blue thinner paper. Since they're done by a supervisor, they are usually very nice (especially if they are whole images). I own quite a few, which is why I was wondering if they're acceptable. But from what BH said, it sounds like only true genga and douga can be entered.

Let's make it simple: if it's drawn on paper, for an anime production, it's a sketch. Therefore, it's all acceptable.

Clarifications

Post by nukukun »

Just to be certain - in the "couples" category, are duos also acceptable?
An example being Kei & Yuri from Dirty Pair.

Also, is there a thread that shows the 2005 Award winners? I didn't see one using search.

Finally, are there any restrictions on nudity in the non-hentai categories?

I'd love to see more duos in the 'Couples' section, that's what I hoped we'd se a lot of last year but many people still thought of it as a male/female romantic pairing.

As for the nudity, to be work-safe and considerate for the younger members, I'd suggest that there's no full nudity in the 'regular' categories.
No breast and backside depictions, even if they are artistic.

Go wild in the hentai section. Although I don't know what everyone's voting criteria would be- an image that makes them smile and think its cute, an image that gets them wet or such a gross act that makes them want to vomit.

I'm all for the vomiting :o
