Thanks gordon.
I guess Kenji is better then Frenchie.
Belive me i have a bad memory. I am sure if i watch it a few more times i will remember.
Alberto is cool, kind of reminds me of Roger from Big O, except kind of evil, and a beard.....

I wanna hear some of your input too!
I told you I hadn’t watched them yet!!Ronin wrote: I really need to get round to watching those episodes you sent me...it's next on the list and then you'll have to bid against me too! (So it better be good, otherwise I'm blaming you!)

Anyway I was inspired to watch the first 25 mins and boy was it cool, I love the whole, style and pace of it, as well as the character designs and robots (of course), it’s all just so old school! I really like Ginrei (I think that's her name) and Taisou so far!
So is there really a cult following for it?

I forgot, ok? Sue me!

Ahem...
Sounds like you're going to enjoy it. I truly hope you do. ^_^
It does have a small but dedicated cult. It seems anyone who likes
it tends to -really- like it. So many critical reviews for the series say,
"You either love it or you hate it." Which I can imagine. The character
designs are retro and the story is plot driven. It's "about" Giant Robots,
but you hardly actually see any robots (unlike the new GR series
being made/released in Japan). You see a large chunk of 'bots in the
opening of every episode, but honestly, can you even name most of them?
These are not bad things, per se. But it's part of why GR is unusual
and why most people either don't give it the time of day, or don't like it at all.
Director Yasuhiro Imagawa is the mastermind behind all of that. The OAV
is an odd departure from the focus of the original manga. Characters
like Yoshi, Taisou, Tetsugyuu were never actually in the original GR manga.
In reality, they are characters from some of Mitsuteru Yokoyama's other
manga series. The diversity in the ensemble cast is evidence of this,
which I find absolute genius.

WooHoo! More GR cels to go drool over...
Those are some really nice Daisaku cels. I particularly like 'Happy Daisaku'.
Can't wait to see more!

OooOoOOOooooooOOOoo!!! How lovely! What a fabulous update!

It's so good to see someone else collecting this series. You have some
real beauties there, can't wait to see the rest.

Thanks for the compliments everyone
I adore my crying Robo cel - I wanted to cry durring that scene too. Couldn't you just feel Robo's pain. And Daisaku's horror, realising for the first time time that Robo isn't invincible and knowing he was responsible...
I think this was the point I became addicted to GR
I saw the GinRei special for the first time this weekend. OMG- it's bonkers! I love it! And there's way loads of cels I'd love from it!!!!
I added a few more cels to me gallery and I just ordered some more - I think about 15. Yikes! But this batch isn't only Daisaku. I know that at the moment my gallery is very much playing favourites

The crying GR sequence is one of the best scenes in the entire series. So much emotion, you'd think GR was sentient. Also a big turning point for Daisaku, realizing he was acting "too big for his britches," as they say.
The Gin Rei special is hilarious! I didn't know what to expect when I first bought it, having only heard about it before. But I was totally shocked and pleased! Couldn't stop laughing.
Your new additions are wonderful! I saw you added a few more just the other day. So cool!
This thread, coupled with my "how many cels are waiting to be scanned?" thread, I've updated with one whole cel!
Can you believe it?! Heheh.
From episode 7, Daisaku inside Robo's eye socket. I love this scene because Dr. Kusama has cheered on his son to defeat the Monster Eye.
Is it ironic that Robo has lost an eye fighting against a giant eye?

WooHoo a WC update! Awesome cel Toni! I tend to hesitate on the cels with 'Robo-damage', makes me sad to look at themwELCOME cONSUMER wrote:

To add to that irony, Robo lost the same eye as his creator, Dr. Kusama... which is a cel I just lost out on recently...

Thanks Gordon! ^_^
Decided to throw another update together. Just one item, again. Ryozanpaku & St. Abey complete set up book. Getting it was one of those pure zen moments you have as a collector.
I just want to weep when I look at it
but then I quickly realize tears might destroy it.
Eddie, I hope you don't mind that I'm using your wishlist thread to broadcast updates. It's just that there's rarely any threads dedicated to GR and at least this way, I know interested parties can see my announcements.

I have already expressed my love for this fabulous art in the form of an ABA vote

It's a true standout in your collection (which is saying a lot as *all* of your production art is amazing!)
Very jealous of your new Robo/Daisaku cel too. What fabulous updates!!!!
