Series you want to collect but don't

I'd love to be able to collect Kenshin again. I got lucky way back when for the ones I have. Other series I wish I could collect are CCS (most of the good ones look to be taken), X (pricey), and Macross (way pricey).

Lun Lun the Flower Child: I haven't seen it yet, but once I do...
Inuyasha: it's sooo tempting... but there's some die hard fans out there and i don't have a particular wishlist. i guess i'd feel guilty.
Ghibli: i'd rather drop the cash on TLU cels. ^_^

I don't collect a lot of series because of high prices: Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, etc. Actually, the price issue has kind of put a damper on collecting them in general--in other words, I really don't feel the need to collect from those particular series. In fact, I recently got rid of my only Trigun cel and am considering doing the same with my RK and Inu cels.

Here's my under represented/unrepresented list:

Sentimental Journey - I waited more than three years after it aired to start looking. I much prefer character background cels to the more common non-background opening cels. Unfortunately for me, so does another YJ bidder and they win those auctions 91.4 percent of the time.

Campus Guardress - There just aren't very many of them around and most of the ones I've seen I didn't like that much.

ONE 1st or 2nd OVA - There isn't very much from this out there. No Misaki for me.

Sadamitsu - Not much out there from this either. This is an old computer colored show anyway. I've never seen a Yayoi sketch. Someone's got sketches of her hidden in a bunker.

Kanon (2002) - Lack of stuffage where I looked.

Sister Princess/Sister Princess RePure - Started looking too late. Shortage of material.

Tsukihime - Started looking too late. Lack of sketches I like.

DNAngel - Lack of supply.

Doukyuusei 2 - Not much I like out there anymore.

I'd collect these if I ever seen them so these are not for lack of trying (these anime ended over two years ago):

Berserk: Too rare, too pricey. Black Swordsman cels, even rarer and pricier.

Escaflowne TV: For some reason, I've only bought a couple of movie cels, even though I much prefer the story of the TV version... Always wanted a TV Dilandau (cel and/or sketch), but have a hard time finding ones I really like. TV Jajuka is too rare.

Gunnm: Too rare, too pricey. I'd love to have just a douga or genga. But I'd also love to see a lengthy animated series. Neither is likely to happen.

Utena: I've bought a couple cels, but have always sold them again. Now that sketch sets are occasionally showing up on Mandarake, I may go for one of these instead (if one ever catches my eye enough).

Plus a number of CG anime that either have no artwork or too few artwork (and all wrong for me and often too expensive). A few of the series I'd like to have sketches for: Hatchimitsu to Clover, Maria-sama ga Miteru, School Rumble, Rozen Maiden, etc...

Unfortunately, I won't be surprised if I never end up with something from many of these series...in the interest of limiting my collection and my spending...

Shoot...I knew I forgot something. I forgot to mention the title at the top of the list I wrote.

Tokimeki Memorial OVA - I waited two and a half years after it came out to look. By then the devoted fanbase of the game had bought many of the limited better cels that were available. Cels I like don't come up for sale very often (even two or three years ago) and when they do, they often go for higher prices than I'm willing to pay.

Other difficulties I've had getting what I want are the cut-off tops of characters heads in scenes and the racing stripes in their hair. I prefer less prominent hair highlights (such as the ones in Kanon (2006)) to the somewhat distracting ones they drew for the TokiMemo OVA.

I try not to spread myself too thin in collecting. I try to get the one or two cels
I want from a particular series and move on to the next series of interest on
my list. The ones at the very bottom of my list right now are the expensive/rare
series that are sought after by Japanese collectors. Of which, high quality cels
don't pop up very often, and if so, they are too expensive for me right now.

On the other hand, I also have a large number of American series/movies
that I wish to collect from but the prices are out of my reach at the moment.
Rarity being a major understatement in these cases as well. But in the future,
I plan to seriously pursue these elusive areas of interest and expand my collection.

For me it largely has to do with money, and also my focus being largely on Sailor Moon (and the vast amount of cels available from this series - 200 eps + 3 Movies and Specials) prevents me from being able to save funds for much else!

Ghibli/Disney - Astronomical prices

Escaflowne - I love this show but cannot seem to save the money when there are so many SM wishlists floating around - also haven't found the cel I really desire from the series yet

Fruits Basket- Love, and even have one layout but I can never seem to bring myself to pay tons for sketches! *probably will when I have the extra funds* Plus good scenes are difficult to come by unless being sold by a private collector!

Other than that I really think that my collection is so focused because I haven't had the time I desire to watch many new anime! School absorbbs all of my time

But hopefully one day school will enable me to purchase more cels ^.^

I thought when I was writting that Gee it's not like I don't know where there are a hoarde of them...

needless to say, I'm a frequent visitor to you gallery.

And I forgot American Art, I love Fantasia but, I just can't even think about trying to purchase any Disney cels just yet though there a few I'd pop out my Kidneys for easily.... And I'm certain that there are really nice X- men cels somewhere and I'll find them with enough patience!

Ohh cool thread

I would absolutely love to collect cels of the following shows:

- Rurouni Kenshin: the ones Ive been interested are waaaaay too expensive

and even if they're not hte best ones, they're still too expensive

- Utena: what else is there to say? money is a big no when it comes to it, I would love having a good cel of Touga but ...

- Inuyasha: too many people going after these ones and the market's gone loco

- Evangelion: well I'd love to have one or two with Misato and Kaji but $$$$

- Transformers: first generation, too hard to find...

Escaflowne (A Girl in Gaea): The really fantastic shots are too expensive.

X/1999: Second verse, same as the first.

Gunnm: My piggy bank would shatter.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The characters I want don't appear very often, and when they do the shots usually aren't that great. There's also a lot of competition.

Sailor Moon: Way too much competition. The shots I want would likely produce a massive bidwar if they appeared for sale. The prices would also go sky high.

I'm kind of like glorff. Most of the shows that I like but don't collect from are CG. I just can't get as excited about sketches as I do about cels.

There are a few cel based shows I do not have any cels from, but would like to someday. I like the artwork, but have never seen the shows. I would have no idea what I was spending my money on. These shows would include

Angel's Egg
Bronze
HunterXHunter
Wish

There are also a few American shows I would like to collect from, but just haven't devoted as much time and money into. These shows would include;

Aristocats
Riki Tiki Tavi
The Secret of Nimh

Anime-Beta TNG
