A lot of Japanese cel galleries I've come across don't last very long. I wonder if any of them went down because the companies told them to take them down?

I had links to a number of Japanese galleries over the years that have disappeared within a year and a half after I found them. Every time I see one now (non-Rubberslug) I expect them to be taken down shortly.

I look at the ELF Cel gallery every now and then (Kakyuusei, Doukyuusei, Doukyuusei 2, Refrain Blue, Words Worth, etc.):

This has always been my favorite gallery. Lots of Dragon Quest cels collected here.

But if you take a gander at their main anime cel page:

You will see an awesome list of Dragonball cels as well. :drool

A LOT of japanese collectors don't keep their galleries online. Most of the time b/c they think that anime should be kept inside of Japan, and not shared with the rest of the world.

Then again...

A LOT of japanese collectors keep their gallery offline b/c of the way they got the cels. Some were stolen...Some were given as private deals by the creators of the series...etc.

There's many reasons why a gallery would go away as well. Could be for the same reasons above. Just like how Midori keeps switching her site address around. A lot of the stuff japanese dealers sell are under the same terms.

Keropi i completely agree, several japanese sites I used to have just randomly stopped working. You would think since collecting cels and such are much greater in Japan that there should be more japanese cel galleries out there.. I also agree with Ms. Poe, I have read several reports in the past of theft regarding cels and I am sure there are many that go unreported (hence the employees take some) which does make sense why they would not post it on the web.

I have never really seen any Japanese galleries. Never really seen Japanese online cels stores, either (all Japanese, not in English at all, etc.). Believe me, I've looked.

JCaliff posted a link to this Japanese Cel site link page about a year ago, worth checking out: http://homepage1.nifty.com/hid/linkpageten.htm

There are some Japanese pages I visit but many aren't well designed or as expansive as the western sites so I don't stick around too long.
It's nice to browse a few dealer sites just to see what's been on the market.

No it's not the main reason, Basiclly the answer is, The lower your profile the more chances you have of getting more cels. "Blackhole collector" is the term known in Japan.

Do others get a bit angry with you if you have too many cels from the same series? ?^_^?

Sometimes it's better not having people ask you where you got your stuff. If you have a lot of good stuff someone is bound to ask you. :D
