Have you ever had a cel with a missing layer and...

Eventually you miraculously aquire the missing layer to complete it! (or at
least aquired a layer that was very close to the one that would have went to
your cel)

Well I received this Guru Guru cel from Fetish4minx long ago. I won a huge
Guru Guru cel lot a few weeks back that had a cel in it which, to my surprise,
was very close to the missing cel layer that would go with my cel. I have
added that layer to make my cel complete now. This would have been the
original scan before the Udberg (old man) layer was added.

Congrats Sugarflower! That is really awesome. Alas, this has not happened to me yet...but I have come close. I have two cels that are very close in sequence that I display together in my cel book...they just don't quite match. The characters in the bubble are getting blasted but the character in the front is not...although they all get blasted at the same time...close enough for me for now ^.^

Well this hasn't happend however what are the chances of this.. I own a (C1) and I have recently found the C2 of that very same sequence from a different dealer. What are the chances @_@

I bought a cute though minor cel of Ryo-oki for my daughter. I had aquired a copy of the Pretty Sammy game opening and found that it was a top layer on a scene of Sammy and Ryo-oki lying in the grass. A year later, Animaxis sold the Sammy layers seperately, and I tried to find one that matched my Ryo-oki as closely as possible. The result is one of our favorite Sammy cels.

Hm, I don't think this sort of miracle has happened to me yet.
I should probably flip thru my books and make sure tho!
It would be wonderful to reunite a cel with its respective layers/elments.

That has never, EVER happened. I doubt such a miracle would occur for me

From Saber Marionette J, I first bought the Cherry and Bloodberry layer
(here) from this scene. A little while later, a Lime layer from the same
sequence came up from the same seller. It doesn't match exactly, but
still goes very well with the other one.

In my sequence of Sakura capturing The Fly, I've swapped around the layers of Sakura and the "power circles" surrounding her, so that rather plain cels of just the "dissolving" Card Spirit had enough context to scan. And once I got a production set-up of Sakura crying after she lost her watch in the Snow episode which came with a top layer showing Syaoran and Kero-chan with their backs turned. A little later, I was able to buy another top layer, with them turned to look at each other, which made the set-up much more attractive.

If you watch long enough, the most surprising things show up. Congratulations, sugarflower!

Sadly this has not happened to me and there is a cel I really want the layer for... Unfortunately I saw that layer of the missing Okita sold on ebay a year or more ago. It makes me sad.

Congrats, it doesn't happen very often.

I have only been able to match up cel layers once. It was for this cel from the Last Unicorn

I bought the unicorn layer on August 3, 2001 and the red bull layer on March 23, 2004.

More commonly I have been able to match up separated cels with their matching dougas and/or gengas (8 times).

Once I bought a cel with a non-matching background - just for the background. I owned the cel that matched the background and was able to reunite them. I almost did this a second time, but I was outbid for the cel /incorrect bg set up. I contacted the winner to see if I could buy a copy of the bg. He initially said yes if it was OK with his girlfriend, but then I never heard from him again. I guess she didn't want to.

Congrats on finding the other layer! Kita Kita man never turned the stomach as much as he did in the fairy outfit.

The closest I've gotten was my Nuriko and Chichiri pounding on Tasuki. I had Nuriko, then found the Chichiri layer a year or so later. They don't match up exactly, just a couple frames off. I know where the Hotohori layer resides at the moment too. Now I need to find Tasuki.

hooray sugarflower! this hasn't happend to me, but i have found matching cels on separate occasions... sometimes years apart. that is always a nice reward of sticking to this hobby for so long.
