My favourite! :)

Sometimes I write one...sometimes I don't. Depends how I feel really, but I don't have a set format I abide by every time, I just write what I feel. You're lucky if I do though as I like to add my collection in bulk and then slowly add the descriptions later...which usually takes forever, if at all.

My style is pretty much exactly what Sensei wrote, right down to the order of steps. Provided I have all the information I need, I start with identifying the episode, describing the scene, writing down my own personal thoughts on the cel, and then noting miscellaneous things like any oddities or damage to the cel.
For me, what I put up about the cel is equally important to the image. Because the series I love are relatively unknown (at least, on this hemisphere), it's definitely a goal of mine to be able to help others understand why I'm passionate about these shows. If I don't feel that I have the time to do a write-up, or that I'm not in the mood to where my words would do the cel justice, then I won't update. What this means though, is that I've been building up more of a backlog, since I keep buying but don't feel like writing about them. :?

On a side note, it drives me crazy to see cels on RS that don't have the cel information filled out, or obviously oversized cels marked as standard size...this probably makes me sound like an anal-retentive perfectionist, but no worries, none of this need for order seems to make it to the physical world.

I'm guilty of this but I've noticed that there is some strange glitch with RS. I've tried editing and adding information, such as what kind of cel it is (key, end, etc) along with "original background" or whatever, but for some reason, it won't stay. For example, I try to select "original background" and then for some reason the cel labels itself as a "key cel." I have no idea why that happens but several of my cels are mislabeled for this reason. I've since given up on trying to adjust cel info. A similar problem happens when I add pan cels, the dimensions have to be entered twice (the first time I hit submit gives me some kind of strange error message).

Yeah it's nice when there's SOME comment with the artwork instead of nothing at all with any if them. Even comments like:

"Just something I picked up"
"It looked good so I bought it"
"Never seen the show, but I liked this"

tell me something. :P

In the whole scheme of things I feel like this:

I love to comment but I have no organization whatsoever. It really depends on how I am feeling at the time and how I feel about the cel. Visiting other galleries kind of made me think that I also need to speak about the physical qualities of the cel and sequence and stuff... I try but it's not a habit yet and also since I buy cels purely for love of a show or character, although I try to go also for aesthetics, the comments are spoilery and weird... But I think for me it's better to say something than nothing because to me each cel I buy is my hard earned money and so I should spend sometime making them look pretty and have comments. Ummm hope that didn't sound too weird. 8O

i'm no writer, but i always make a point to leave comments.

i collect exclusively from the same series, without plans of venturing out. i really enjoy descriptions of scenes, and cel id's in other collections. i watch anime, but not a whole lot... so it helps me appreciate artwork when i know what's going on. i i truly believe it reflects how much a collectors enjoys a piece when they have something to say about it.

I appreciate reading any comments a collector makes on their collection- and I have found that actually, it really is a standard for me as far as viewing and enjoying another person's collection and gallery.

There are some RS galleries that I don't even visit anymore, just because of the simple fact that absolutely NOTHING has a single comment or sentence for it. It got to the point where I wasn't even clicking on the thumbnails anymore, because a big part of the reason I click on the thumbnails to view the larger page is because I want to read about that particular cel and what the owner has to say about it, how they may have gotten it, what it means to them, what is going on in the cel's scene, etc. etc. I wonder how many owners realize that some people aren't even bothering to look at the cels they've taken all the trouble to scan and edit and then upload, simply because they have nothing to say about them.

Also, it kind of says something to me, in a way. You see these galleries that have hundreds of cels in them, and not a single one has a comment. It makes you feel like this person really doesn't have much love for the cels themselves, but wants to look either popular or be known for having the most cels from the most popular animes. That may not be the case, but it sure comes across that way, and I have stopped looking at galleries like that altogether. Part of the fun of this hobby is the loving curation of our dear collections. If you have simply nothing to say, or are too lazy, then maybe you aren't as impassioned about this hobby as you want others to believe.

I personally try to comment on everything- but once in awhile I'll get freebies in my cel packages, so I don't have much to say or don't know what to say about those cels simply because I never particularly sought them out; but I still try to leave a line or two of whatever information I can.

While I am waiting on a few packages to finish my next update, I am enjoying going back and fixing spelling and grammar errors in my gallery, adding new comments as I learn new things about certain cels I already own, and putting in their sequence number information, and cut number and anything else applicable. Also, I have recently had fun re-watching several of my favorite series from start to finish all over again, and it's fun to suddenly pick up a cel that you originally could never place the episode it was from- so I have been adding that information in for a lot of my cels lately.

Well, I'll add the catagory F, which some people have already talked about. I do a mixture.

B) discuss what's on going in the anime
E) snarky cute comments
F) explain a little why I got the cel

When a cel is new, there will be very little information added. Sometimes if I'm only adding one or two cels, I might have something descent to say. But usually my good commentaries always come later. It's also part of my re-organizing my gallery that I'm doing - adding better comments. I'm interested in what's going on in the cel, what episode it's from and why you got it. So I'm trying to answer all that in my comments. I pass over all the technical aspects of the cels. I'm not buying it so I don't care that's there's one little scratch in the upper left hand corner of Tamahome's hair or whatever. It's pretty! :)

I have to admit I'm with Maiko. I remember those galleries that don't have any comments and tend not to visit anymore. But as always, there are exceptions to that rule. Although when I do visit, I might not click the thumbnails.

But I doubt I'll ever write as much as TC does. 8O Laziness runs deep.
I'm like this way to. I'm still trying to go back and add commentary to some of my cels. I try not to write too much info about where the cel takes place since I don't want to have too many spoilers. TC's gallery helped me choose the order I wanted my info to take place(my opinions/cel series info).

When I used to only collect Esca cels it was easy to write comments. I've seen the anime 10 or 11 times and I would only get cels when ones I really liked came available.

Sketches have sure changed things, now if I win 3 sketch auctions it could have 200 individual items in it. I try to really scan everything (unless its total super-crap) so people can see what was in the auction but it makes it really hard to comment on everything. Especially when its a show I've only seen once. I have a horrible memory and usually can't remember whats going on in a particular scene. X|

Now I'm in a perdicament (sp??) where I've got my gallery closed, I've uploaded hundreds of things with more on the way, I'd really like to open it some time soon because I'm so exited to share but REALLY don't want to be one of those people who don't write anything because it seems like they don't care.

Arghhh!! What to do! :x

As to people with lots o goodies and no comments,
We have a saying at work - When in doubt choose confusion over conspiracy. I guess in the cel world this could translate to -
when there's no comments, assume occupied over indifferent.

I use to get irked visiting other galleries where the cels had absolutely no information. As I get older  It's not that big a deal anymore. I enjoy seeing what others have purchased or found.

For my gallery, I find it fun to give the viewer as much information as I have or know about each cel. This can be some work when up-loading several cels at a time. I'll write out the info on paper or in a text program on the comp. As for personal comments, I have a much tougher time coming up with things to say. As you know I'm not the best writer.

I have had the most difficult time in trying to arrange the cels in the animes viewing order. Part of this issue is the Rs set-up, I don't have the patience to move them around one at a time. Some day Jason has said he will have a better system. But hey, it's a free site.

My burden is SO great! lol

I've enjoyed reading how other members feel here!
