Were you trampled by mobs of people trying to get that special deal on a LCD TV? Did you knock someone over to get that DVD player on sale? Let's hear your stories! Be sure to tell us if you got that special item or came away empty handed. At the Woodbridge, New Jersey Best Buy the news crews were actually there it was so crowded. There must have been 10 police cars. The line was wrapped around the building and some people had been there since thursday afternoon. I was so lucky to get my LCD TV!

Best Buy gave out tickets so you could get the ticket, leave and come back when the store was less crowded as long as it was before noon.

Our Sears store opened at 5AM, but I didn't have to start work until 6AM. I hadn't had to work early on the day after Thanksgiving in four years. It was crowded and crazy. We ran out of a lot of stuff in the ad, but throughout the day I kept thinking how crowded the mall used to be seven or eight years ago when there was less internet shopping.

Compared to those days we must have had only about fifty to sixty percent of the number of people we had today. The good part about all this was:

Less customers = Less stress

I didn't try to buy anything today. I hate large groups of people. I would rather buy something at regular price than shop on the day after Thankgiving. I've tried shopping late on the day after Thanksgiving before, but when I did there were just less salepeople. So the ratio of salepeople to customers never changed. It remained difficult getting help.

Last night (Thursday) around 5PM I saw about thirty five people camped out in front of our local Best Buy store in tents and folding chairs. Anyone know why they were doing that?

Good deals on some HDTV's, laptops and other stuff...but only a few per
store.

I was out in the mess, but I was not a shopper. I just love seeing the absolute best and worst of humanity all at once. On one hand, you have mobs of people climbing over each other buying things they don't need, with a credit card they can't pay off. On the other, you see people on the street in the cold, ringing bells and collecting money, food, and clothing for those who can't afford it. I went in the mall and did some shopping for two kids, ages 6 and 12, who were on the Salvation Army Christmas Angel tree. One kid will get jeans, a nike t-shirt, and a football. The other will get a Hot Wheels playset and some t-shirts. I did take advantage of the fact that Tower is closing, and bought season 2 of Deadwood for $50. I then went to Best Buy to look around, and that place was gutted. Took a short walk to Petco and played around with the dogs from the animal shelter. Went and saw Casino Royale, which was excellent. Then just got home twenty minutes ago.

I've gotta tell ya. Today went fairly smooth for me, however while waiting in a long check out line at Kohl's I felt my uterus contracting in from all the screaming children around the place. Frankly speaking....shopping is the best birth control out there.

I have a coworker who knows just enough Spanish to tell the kids to sit down and shut up. She doesn't have any problems telling them in English, either.

Because of how I let time slip by, I forgot to tell work I could come in this weekend (during time off from school, I work retail) so I didn't have to.

Of course, I could use the money, but I also need the time to do last minute school work.

Got up at 7 this morning and went shopping with the family. To the best of my knowledge, we got everything we wanted.

Nothing too eventful, and the lines seemed rather normal to me.

I must have been tired, 'cuz I came home and fell asleep, which is something I have a hard time doing during daylight.

It's my dad's birthday, so we also bought him some presents and had a little celebration this evening. I completely forgot until my family told me yesterday.

I avoided the whole thing and decided to just lounge around at home and watch FY all day after eating way too many wasabi peas

Just didnt feel like venturing into pirahna territory and becoming a victim

I went to the mall at 1:30.... post-A.M. madness.
got good deals on some name brand clothes that I would otherwise never buy, and we got some cheap dvds and an mp3 player for my dad.

I feel really bad for my friend though, who got in line at 5am att gamestop to get a wii. He and his parents were 4th, 5th, and 6th in line, but gamestop only had.... 3.

I went to the dentist! Gotta love home from school for just a little bit scheduling. I did get a couple fo cheap dvd boxsets for gifts at FYE on Friday though. No real problems.

I went out to breakfast at McDonalds... at 10:30. Then went to my dads work with him to look for some stuff, then walked around Staples after the HUGE sales were over with.

Most of my Black Sunday was spent playing the Wii! OOOOOH yeah! <3 nintendo.

I just camped in the livingroom, watching my local news crew cover the Best Buy madness. It was so fun, being curled up in my cozy blankie, with popcorn and mountain dew, enjoying NOT shopping. =DDD

My precious stayed inside all day long!

Yet, going out to our mall the day after, I was shocked to see that (even though the mall was open extra late for the black weekend) hardly anyone was there...score! Got Napoleon Dynamite for 10 bucks, a Clint Eastwood movie for my mom ($6), and Dumb and Dumber (it was cheap too...)
