Reason I've been MIA - update

Post by animeobsessed »

I'm not sure how many noticed but I haven't been posting much lately.

Besides being very busy working 65-80 hours a week, my youngest daughter, Lisa, was in an auto accident on the afternoon of Halloween. It was a head on collision on her way to Reno (to pick up FF XII).

The other driver, driving toward Carson City on US 395, tried to go across traffic, realized he wasn't going to make it and ended up in her lane. She had to be cut out of the car, careflighted to the Reno hospital and had surgery that night on her femur (above the left knee) which was completely broken (a rod was place through an incision in the knee, up into the middle of femur and screwed in place near her hip - no cast). Later it was discovered in addition to multiple cuts and bruises she had torn her ACL ligament in her right knee. In other words, temporarily she could not move her legs.

She was in the hospital for over 3 weeks and now is getting around the house with a full leg brace and a walker. The left leg is almost healed and the right knee is scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks. Hopefully, six weeks from now she will, with extension physical therapy which is also doing now, she will get back to school. She's a senior in high school.

So there you have it....between work & Lisa's accident I have had little time for much else. I have been lurking, but not posting.

Hopefully, I will have lots of time again for beta and updating my gallery in late January when Lisa is back on her feet and work isn't so crazy.

...oh, and yes, I did pick up the game and guide for her a couple days later.

Hope she's enjoying FFXII as much as I am!

The other guy in the crazy car should be in jail!

How terrifying it must have been. I am glad to hear she is ok. Hope she recovers quickly.

I'm glad that your daughter is back home and her injuries are healing nicely. I hope her surgery for the knee goes well so that she can be up and running around in no time.

What better being stuck in the house and even in bed then having a game to enjoy. ^_^

Keep us updated on her recovery and when she has surgery.

*hugs*

The phone call NOBODY wants to get. 8O

What a horrific thing. But at least she's almost, ALMOST ready to go back into action again!! Thanks to all the fates, forces, angels, gods, or whatever you may happen to think about.

Many sympathies from one knee-sufferer to another. Sometimes I think the physical therapy to get things moving again can be worse than the actual injury. Of course, then sometimes I think I'm an idiot, too ;)

:ghug:

Some for your daughter, and some for you. I suspect the worried mom genes have been in full-out overdrive for some time now.

Oh MY, Nikki!! I have noticed your absence, but I just attributed it to the hectic work schedule. I am SO glad that your daughter is recovering well and hopes to be back to school soon. (That will be good for BOTH of you, I'm sure. :)) I certainly agree with Kay that your "mom worrying genes" must have been cranked up to the max lately. I hope that the extra worrying and extra busy-ness can end soon! I'm really glad you let us know where you've been and what's up so we keep up with you. :friends:

Come on...that's the best reason you could come up with for ignoring us?
Just come out and say that you don't want to socialize with us any more
instead of making up flimsy excuses.
:joke

Seriously, though...best of wishes to the both of you.
I hope that she's able to come through this as quickly and fully as possible.
It's a traumatic experience that unfortunately is going to take a while to
recover from. And the worst part is that it could've easily been prevented
by someone not acting stupid :kaioken It's also quite rough on you. I know
that whenever something is wrong with one of Baakay's kids, it's usually
making her more frazzled and worried than it does the kid. Hang in there.
At least she's out of danger now.

OMG! Wow, I am so glad she is going to be alright. I certainly hope the therapy goes well. If there is anything to be thankful for this holiday season, it is the fact that you got your daughter back. Best wishes to you and your family.

Like others, I definitely noticed your absence. I'm terribly sorry to hear the reason why! That's just so sad! Thank god the accident wasn't much worse. I hope her continued recovery is smooth and speedy. Take care and happy holidays!
