To add to that irony, Robo lost the same eye as his creator, Dr. Kusama... which is a cel I just lost out on recently...

I wanted to go for that cel as well

There were to many for auction all at once - I just wanted loads and had to pick and chose the most important to me. I won 5 of the 6 auctions I went for so I'm happy all in all

AWS seem to have had sequence mates of this (Dr. Kusama), fingers crossed for you that they have one more yet

Oh yes! That look of realisation on Dai's face coupled with the horror is perhaps the most lasting image of the series in my mind. It was also the point where I sat up and paid attention. G Robo was intelligent, well designed fun up untill then. After that scene I felt an emotional impact and knew I was hooked

That's awesome that you voted on it without knowing its origin! Must have "across the board" appeal after all.

And at least I know I got one vote, which makes it all worth while.

I'm a little disappointed in the scan though. Layers of acetate tend to create a haze that you just can't get rid of, it seems.

I noticed so many GR entries in this year's Beta Awards, I was so pleased! I voted for them all (I recognized your cels and Eddie's, too cool!) It's great to see so much enthusiasm for this neglected series.

I know what you mean about the reviews for the Gin Rei Specials. If you're not a GR fan, then you just won't get it. The jokes are very inside *imagining the Experts of Justice in Gin Rei's little dress... ROFL* Like you, I wish more of my favorite animes had omakes and spoofs like that. It was very well done! The animation looked good, I expected it to look cheap.

The original purpose of the Gin Rei special was to hold fans over till the release of episode 7. Each episode took a while to come out, but episode 7 was definitely the slowest. Having to wait a couple of years for resolution caused many fans to just give up all together on the series.

What I wouldn't give for a naked Alberto cel...

That shower scene, with the pink shower cap...

priceless!

Can't wait to see what new cels you have acquired. Anytime I see a Rinkya bidder on a Daisaku cel, I know it's yooou!

Sorry to have to 'Geek Test' here, but, there was one Gin Rei special hold over between the delayed GR episodes 5,6 and 7. Though for the 2 1/2 year wait for Ep.7, we should have gotten several more GinRei Specials

Especially since they 'mocked up' 24 TV titles with guest appearances.

What I wouldn't give for a naked Alberto cel... That shower scene, with the pink shower cap... priceless!

I have to agree, certainly 'kidney' worthy

and the GinRei one wouldn't be all bad either

And yes, I believe few would complain about having a fleshy Gin Rei cel.

Thanks, but I'm hardly an expert, it's just when you've been traumatized by the GR delays first hand you tend to remember the little details

Keep the GR updates coming people

it's so great to see others enjoying and sharing art from is overlooked series

btw, if anyone ever comes across a cel of Doki please let me know, that's my wife's favorite character. So much so, that she's said the if Doki were real, she's have to leave me for him

Whoo! I made it back

I got a Rinkya package today

That's anotheR 22 Giant Robo cels to scan *arrrghhhhh* How did I become this hooked so quickly? I still haven't writen discriptions for any cels from my last update!!!

I think my new cels fall into one of two catorgries - (1)great Diasaku cel or (2) freebie with great Diasaku cel

I was doing a very quick check of Moonphase yesterday to see what new anime might be coming out shortly when I ran across this "Giant Robo 40th Anniversary" anime that's supposed to begin possibly airing in January 2007:
