USPS and EMS not updating shipping info!!!! ARGH!

Post by Sugarflower »

Has anyone noticed this lately? My YJ package arrrived yesterday but the EMS tracking site still shows that my tracking # isn't in their system! And packages that I have shipped out to people this past week are still showing the date and time they were accepted at my post office. Why are these sites not updating package status! Don't tell me holidays are affecting this. I was told that the status is updated every evening. Sheesh! :x

Yeah, that happened with USPS just over a month ago when I bought my Seiryu no Miko cel. I was really worried that they lost it or thought maybe the seller gave me the wrong tracking number. It arrived in the normal amount of time, but their website still said that they had not received the package. I thought it was a fluke and didn't think much more about it.

I'm a tracking whore, I watch tracking like a hawk. Which has given me a few insights and odd stories:

I once watched them loose a package of mine: from city to city I watched my package hit the arrival and departure scans closer and closer to home, then my package took a right turn and went the wrong way 8O i contacted them and let them know my package was on a voyage to no where. They caught it and corrected it :D

I watched a package come all the way across the US with quite impressive swiftness! Then it sat in my town's local warehouse for 2 days (sat and sun).I said WTF and called them. I didn't pay for such fast shipping so instead of delivering it to me or letting me pick it up early (an 8 minute drive) they had to let it sit.

I know a guy who used to be a driver for one of the big delivery companies. Here is a secret, they make a killing off people who next day air stuff on saturdays. THEY DON'T DELIVER ON SUNDAYS! You pay an uber expensive price for over night air and it's a guy driving it there in a truck. He drove the truck to the airport a few cities over where they would check in the shipment.

And yes sometimes your package info doesn't update for a couple days :D

That was amusing and terrifying!

I just checked on EMS tracking of a package from Osaka. It just left for the US. It seems to be working for me, so perhaps you can try again. It's likely to have been some computer problem somewhere.

I've been noticing that USPS hasn't been updating their tracking lately. Maybe it is because of the holidays.

Was that for a private company or something? I've had many packages delivered to me on Sundays from USPS and FedEX. I was quite surprised because I hadn't asked for anything special. The postman told me that they'll always deliver EMS and next days on Sundays.

I don't remember what company and I don't remember the nitty gritty details, I wish I still worked with him or I'd ask him :O

I can't believe that everyone else has been having problems with this. :x It's really starting to upset me.

"Your item was accepted at 4:19 PM on December 19, 2006 in OAK HILL, WV 25901. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

And there is STILL no update for this package I have sent to a friend!!! Would you concider it a waste of money for adding tracking to a package while you can't even track it as it makes its way to a destination! ARGH!

Information is updated every evening my butt! The workers must sit around scratching their butts and picking their noses.

Ok, sorry for the little rant today. *sigh* At least the package DID arrive to my friend today even though the tracking info isn't updated at all.

Man I need some heavy eggnog. :P

Hmmm . . . I haven't had any problems with this. I'm tracking two packages from Japan and they were both updated yesterday and the day before. I also tracked a couple of packages I sent, and they're both showing up as having been delivered. But, I didn't track their journey, so I have no idea if tracking was updated during the shipment.

Don't worry Sugarflower, I've been having the same problem with four packages that were supposed to arrive 3 days ago. No updates, nothing whatsoever on the packages, just that they were accepted at their respective locations. I even checked on the USPS website and it says that the only delays they are having is coming from the upper northwest, but I don't have anything coming from up there, and not only that but it said guaranteed delivery by today if they were shipped out three days ago via priority.

I'm thisclose to calling up USPS and yelling about the extra money and services I paid for to have them deliver before Christmas, and even had this stuff shipped out on Monday! It's Saturday!

I emailed them asking why we are having problems with package tracking and that I'm not happy with spending extra money for the tracking only to find that I can't even track it.

I also called to inquire about the package my friend received today and the woman I spoke with told me that even though I had delivery confirmation for the packge that regular packages are not tracked by each point it crosses before it reaches its destination, that they did not have any records of the package other than being shown where I dropped it off at my PO location. 8O I was like WTF? She really confused me, I had no idea what she was talking about! :x I'm still confused!

Shortly after the phonecall is when my friend said her mailman had just delivered her package.
